Aim to please mate! I would love now for Smigga to have a definate direction in where he is going now. I think a fight with either stieglitz or magee would obviously be big steps up for smigga, but if it was p to me, another couple of defences of the british against whoever wins the eliminators, and providing he comes through those, i would like to see a fight with magee. I think that kind of graudal step up gives him further experiance in terms of training for the 12 rounds, keeps his level of opposition at a consistantly decent level, and it will tell us how he has settled at the weight, and give a good indication of how he would deal with magee. At this stage, i think it iswinnable, but tough tough tough, and would not suprise me if he lost on points, same goes with stieglitz TBH. I think hehas it in him, just needs a bit more time
avid im not being disrespectful to paul , others maybe but not me and i stand by what i say . as for brooks i will take the 5th on that one mate you slate him i could not be arsed i was only their for dodson smith. did see bellew fight
dont think he can fight til september mate coz of the cuts. even if he did lose its better to try and lose than not try at all. wud like him to have 1 more decent test til magee tho:good
Fair enough mate. We both have clear enough opinions on the issue, and i am respectfull enough to accept you have them, but enough to agree with them! :good all good banter though mate it's why i come on here!
by the way did anyone here that ******* sitting in the middle of riverside lower tier with the shout ;;their"s only one peter andre;; two smith fans bought me a pint for that . great night out still. got a headache
Can I just add... I love everyone on this thread. you have all been like a 2nd family to me the last couple of weeks :good ROLL ON THE NEXT SMIGGA FIGHT!!! :thumbsup
i would like to see him fight some fringe world class fighters like Tsypko or andrade... good, upright boxers with no real threat to smith!!!
Would prefer tsypko thb. Have just heard that smigga said he is likely to fight again in june, as long as the cuts heal well.
Good call to all those who picked Smigga. Good performance from the lad, hope he can push on to world level now. Disappointed in Dodson, didnt throw nearly enough shots. But take nothing away from Smith, to go the distance with such bad cuts takes a lot of heart. Fair play.
I think we also have to consider the way smith fought that night contributed to how dodson actually approached and foguth the fight, as smigga did keep the heat on, not allowing dodson to maybe settle down, or get his punches off
True mate. And as I say, taking nothing away from Smith at all. I just thought Tony didnt show enough willingness to get his shots off. Should have tried to claim the centre of the ring much earlier and be more active. Your boy done well though and I hope he can really push on now.
And by the way... anyone see "The Fridge" at the arena. Epitomy of a professional athlete :rofl Bumped into Brett Flourney too who seemed a nice fella.
Me too mate. I mean there are plenty of things he does need to do better, but i think the cut, and dodsons attitude to the fight made smith lunge in a bit too much with straight rights, as he knew he had to force the fight, because of the potential of an early finish. He needs to be tested at a higher level now. End of the day contrary to what a lot of people will have you believe on this forum, smith didn't do too bad on friday against dodson
