Any footage would be great........... i'll then decide if he was impressive against a bloke with a losing record.
Congats to Lucas Browne :good Paul Butlin was knocked down 4 times in 4 rounds, has now lost 12 fights in a row, and is 36 years old. There's has to be loud clear message ringing there. Looking forward to seeing the footage to evaluate Browne's performance.
he beat a punching bag. what's to evaluate? for the record i like browne, just saying it how it is, that's all.
I said pretty much the same thing above. Just put it a little differently :good :deal Paul Butlin was knocked down 4 times in 4 rounds, has now lost 12 fights in a row, and is 36 years old. There's has to be loud clear message ringing there. Still want to see how Browne went about the demolition.
I don't think anyone is getting too excited at this stage. The win is probably akin to his win over Wilson with similar records. So not really a backwards step. The difference is now that he may have made some connections through Hatton promotions and get some more offers from them. Like I said in the other Browne thread. Lucas has limited options here if he wants to make a gradual progression in opposition. Its a big jump from where he is to the Leapais, Demoris, Meehans etc. According to boxrec Australia has 31 heavyweights with only the top 5 have decent records then its either guys with loss records or only 5 or so pro fights. The UK has a similar number (34) but has a few more options in terms of stepping stone opponents and a bigger boxing fan base. I don't being a road warrior is a bad way to go, unfortunately it just gives you a certain level of anonymity with the general sporting public in your own country. Just ask Katsidis who couldnt even get his last hometown bout televised. Remains to be seen what Lucas will do next anyway. The good thing is he likes to keep busy so whatever he does next should happen soon.
Apparently he looked clinical in getting the job done. Great move signing with ricky....wasted no time in getting the show on the road. Good luck to lucas and team. :good
There is a void between the top sprinkling of local heavyweight and the rest, and Leapai or Kali Meehan would probably be unatainable and make no sense anyway. But the opposition Lucas Browne has beaten is hardly worse than what Mark DeMori has beaten. DeMori has just been doing it longer, and is grossly over-rated in many people's opinions, including my own.
Yeah fair spider, looking at it again, I'd agree with you there. Unless DeMori's cherry picking policy changes though, I'm not sure it would happen anytime soon. Apparently the two have sparred a bit.
Commonwealth Heavyweight Title.....Fury v Browne This is what Browne should be aiming for in the next 12 - 16 months.
