Don't get me wrong i was a huge James Toney fan back in the day, but he is well & truly done. Still...he talks a great show & if its a FOX/TV card they should be pushing him with interviews bigtime.
Even if Toney is well past his best, this is a pretty big step up for Browne. I still would favour Toney even at this age though. Too elusive and crafty and Browne doesn't throw enough to wear him down. How close is this fight actually being signed and sealed?
Browne is going to get flogged unless Toney can't walk. Even out of shape shot to **** Toney has way too much for Browne at this stage, who only really has a slow looping right hand and what I think is slightly overrated power. I'd bet anything that Lebedev is a far more concussive puncher than Browne and we know that Rahman and Peters definitely are. Anybody saying easy win for Browne is going to see that there are different levels in this sport and no matter how far Toney has fallen he should still have too much him.
I think a loss or a win against a well over the hill JT doesn't do too much for anyones reputation I think 5-10 years ago getting toney here great now well just a novelty act When a champion of the past is beaten well over the hill I think those fights should have an * next to them
I agree with you in principal. But in practice that's not what happens. If Lucas Browne became the first man to stop Toney he'd be remembered for it - rightly or wrongly - and regardless of how shot, fat and old Toney might be at the time. It will be very interesting to see what kind of shape Toney turns up in.
supposed doubts on this. http://www.*****.net/news/2013/03/14/towers-commonwealth-bout-raises-doubts-over-browne-v-toney.html we'll see what happens.
:goodWhat a fantastic card, cant wait only 15min drive for me http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=667386
If Lucas Browne does instead fight Richard Towers, it would leave James Toney without a dance-partner. Have we got any other heavyweights who'd be interested in getting in with Toney :think
