Yes, it was a very disappointing effort by both fighters last night. I don't know about you but I felt I was a bit conned/ripped off. They both made a boatload of money. GGG, $20M and Canelo at least $65M is what I read. But here is the thing. I think GGG earned this opportunity to get this kind of a payday. It was a culmination of an outstanding career in the ring. I, personally, have always been a big GGG fan because he is a gentleman in and out of the ring. It always bothered me the way Canelo got favorable decisions, in my opinion. And it also bothered me the way Canelo always wanted to make it personal, something that GGG would have rather stayed away from. But regardless, I hope GGG retires and leaves his legacy intact. By staying in the game it will diminish his legacy. He doesn't need the money but he can earn several big paydays if he decides to do so. I hope he doesn't because what I have always respected about GGG is that he struck me as an honorable person, a good man, sincere in his pursuits.

But here is the thing. Boxers aren't doctors or lawyers. Most of them are not because they simply don't have the capacity. So they box. It could be argued boxers like GGG, Loma and maybe Usyk could have done fine outside of the ring. Who really knows? But, in the end, they chose boxing because they could possibly be successful and earn a lot of money and provide for their families. Ultimately, that is every man's objective. They have done this. So, should I/we fault GGG for doing a "victory lap" as he fades into oblivion, collecting big checks in his last 2 or 3 fights? I don't know. Because I do think he can still KO guys like Munguia and the likes. But, I guess, I would prefer that he simply step to the microphone and, like Lou Gherig, say something like, today I consider myself to be one of the luckiest men in the world.

P.S. Kudos to Canelo for burying the hatchet. They both showed respect for one another.

    GGG went full gay.

    Gennadiy, never go full gay.

I'm disappointed in GGG. His whole attitude and energy leading up to fight night was just terrible. The extended embrace after the fight was cringe AF. It's like he needed Clenelo's approval/friendship to mend some kind of brokenness in his personal life.

    To answer the question...

GGG's legacy is that he was a monster that was avoided in his prime. He's one of the greatest middleweights to have ever laced them up and he's 2-1 against Clenelo in the eyes of the public. GGG should smoke Hymen Mung and Jerome Chorlo and ride off into the sunset on a 2 fight win streak.

    Golovkin 40 years old
not sure why anybody expected a good fight

truth is Golovkin was disappointment in his first two fight with Alvarez. only because he was robbed people forget he was expected to do better. ok he maybe was already bit of old man then. but now why anybody expect more of him than this?

He was a great MW champion who ruled in a weak era. Which is not his fault. He needed to fight the 2017 Canelo in 2015; even then, most of us thought he won the first one. And of course there was no Hopkins for him, or Roy Jones, or even a Pavlik or Jermain Taylor. Just a poor stretch at MW and unfortunately doesn't appear to be getting better.

A very meh resume. I know people avoided him but he also didn't care to make fights against top competition on a consistence basis. He was content with fighting low level fighters in his career and cashing out against Clenelo.

Stop trying to justify that crap last night . For all we know boxers are reading your sympathetic post and are telling themselves they don't have too fight or put on a show and they'll hope you'll be understanding. Stupid thread....

I think he would have beaten everyone but Jones, assuming all in their prime.

He needed Canelo to make the mega millions. No wonder he hugged him at the end.
