    McGuigan v Nelson

Huge amounts of hype around this after Nelson put Cowdell to sleep "I came in to knock him out in the first round. I made my mind up because the people here didn't treat us good. They were making all kinds of words to get the title from us, but I want to prove to them I'm the best in the world and I want (Barry) McGuigan. I will knock him out anywhere I fight him. I'm ready to fight McGuigan anytime, any day, anywhere... McGuigan is good but the way McGuigan fights there is no way he can beat me. There is no way McGuigan can go four rounds with me... I took the title from a young man and any old man that wants to challenge me then hey I'm here."

Not sure if Barry's team wanted it but Steve Cruz and a 125 degrees parking lot put paid to it anyways.

even though he was well past his prime by the end and i wish to god he retired many years before hand wasnt one of the klits bros next in hand at tyson if he beat danny williams?? (think it was vitali)

mikes my favorite ever fighter but at that point in his life it would of been one brutal beatdown,,, tyson was trained by roach at the time if i remember right and looked half decent with his jab/combos and head movement untill he blew his knee out and became a standing target for williams

**edit found the quote, wasnt exactly made in concrete, but the idea was there

“Many years ago, I had a dream to be the heavyweight champion of the world. As a young boy, I would watch Mike Tyson fight and would say to myself that I want to fight him. A few months ago, Danny Williams squashed my dreams of fighting “Iron” Mike. I was surprised and disappointed that this man from England took away my dream. Right now, I want to beat the man who destroyed my dream.”

“Every boxer wants to be a world champion, so I know Danny Williams is coming for me. I will not underestimate him. I will send him into retirement like I did to Lennox Lewis.”

Lewis v Bowe is the biggest one of (relatively) recent years for me.

Hatton v Witter is one for the domestic list. Others that I havent spotted mentioned above:

    Toney v Jackson
    Pedroza v Sanchez
    Sweet Pea v Quartey
    And obviously Wlad v Vit.

    Jones V's Hopkins. 60/40, **** off.

Calzaghe V's Ottke. Ottke said he considered the WBO is a joke which is correct but it's not a good reason not to fight the other main guy in the division.

Cotto V's Alvarez, instead Cotto faced a bigger skilful young hungry southpaw and lost.

Alvarez V's Ortiz. If GBP really wanted to make this fight then they bloody well should have made it. Instead Ortiz got his jaw broken by a LWW in a showcase waste of a Showtime/HBO date. It's not a fight that needed building, people know both of them and Ortiz is a flake and easy nights work for Alvarez anyway so why risk it?

I have a horrible feeling Donaire V's Rigo won't happen, or Burns V's Broner.

They needed Ortiz to look brilliant in order to gain a bit of interest in him vs Canelo.

Because he quit against Mayweather, people were no doubt sceptical.

I think we might have seen the last of him, or certainly the last of him for a very long time. It's a hard road back, with three KO losses in recent times, all with an element of quit in them.

There already would have been interest because both of them are "names" and when the promotion hit full swing they could have spun the Floyd KO into a dirty sucker punch. They overreached and tried to make Ortiz into a PPV opponent when he just isn't one. Cotto was the obvious big PPV fight on the cards for Alvarez and they have blown that for him too.
