Big George Foreman vs Mariusz Wach

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by WelcomePaladin2, Nov 7, 2015.

  1. Can Mr Wach's chin handle Big Georges power?

Who wins in a 15 rounder?

Wach with modern day conditioning wears down & knocks out Big George in the 13th.
    thoughts?

    Hahahahahah.

Old foreman completely obliverates Wach. Destroys him. Atombomb left uppercut to the chin. Complete annihilation. Shao khan would be waiting to say "finish him" within the first two rounds. Foreman would club him into submission with ease. Wachs punches would hurt his hand more so than the rock Foreman calls a chin.

  3. I think you are being a bit complacent. There is a reason that Wach would be the bookies favourite.

Old Foreman would easily defeat Wach on points. Young Foreman is tricky. He didn't really learn to pace himself and didn't have the best stamina as his fights with Ali and Young showed. Now you have to factor in that Foreman never faced anyone as big as Wach. Foreman rarely ever faced a man his own size let alone bigger. I believe in his first incarnation the only fighter larger than himself was Jack O'Halloran a club level fighter turned actor.
If Foreman burned too much energy trying to cut down this oak he may be in danger in the later rounds. Don't get me wrong Foreman is the superior fighter and could defeat men Wach shouldn't even be in the ring with, but still Wach's durability coupled with his size and Foreman's propensity to tire quickly in his early career does merit pause.

I think using his fight with Ali where he literally threw enough to knock out an elephant and missed most in hundred degree heat isn't enough of a basis to say he tires quickly.

Well that is why I also referenced the Young fight. And if you want to add to it he looked very tired and wild in the Lyle brawl.

The Foreman who fought Young was not prime Foreman. He was being taught to pace himself by Clancy and it completely screwed him up. Prime Foreman was the fighter who obliterated Norton. VERY few past or present hwt champions would last 5 rounds with that Foreman. He was a human force of nature at that time.

Yes Clancy's tinkering did take away George's natural aggression and hurt him I would concede it wasn't peak Foreman but he was still close to his "physical" prime. Norton was obliterated by every big puncher he ever faced. I believe you agree with this on another thread. All I'm saying is Wach is a very tough man that happens to be 6'8 265lbs. Is he good? No. Skill wise he is slow as molasses and lumbers around akin to Frankensrein's monster. Still Wlad couldn't stop him and only a cut halted him in the final round of what was a very through trouncing by Povetkin. If Foreman couldn't belt him out quickly there is the "chance" he could tire it happened when he couldn't get Ali out. He look spent by Round 5.

Most all the guys Wlad has faced are pretty poor in terms of skills. When you speak of Foreman you are talking about a true ATG hwt. His drive and determination, ability to take a punch, ability to cut the ring and bone crushing power were off the scale. His speed is also underrated. Ali told everyone a few weeks after the bout when it was replayed when asked what surprised you in round one.....response from Ali....."His speed....he was much quicker than I thought he would be" I don't see any ordinary hwt beating him at his best.

Again we are talking the best Foreman. He would walk down Wach with his jab and follow it with his right hand. Never seen any hwt hit like Foreman. I don't think I ever will. Brutal puncher....frighteningly powerful.

Foreman is still the real champion in my eyes. Robbed him blind. Max potential of full strengths at his best.

Foreman clearly wins, Wach is even slower than Foreman was, question is does Wach go the distance. Povetkin's body shots hurt Wach, imagine what Foreman's would do to that long body of Wach. Foreman probably breaks him down and stops him.
