Wow, I only just noticed that BJM retired tonight! And the UFC didn't even say anything about his departure! :-( He's as much of the UFC as the octagon and the actual name "UFC" itself! Been there for 14 years since UFC 2, done THOUSANDS of fights in the MMA world and not even a 'thank you' What the hell! :fire:fire The guy is a legend.
They didn't do anything? That really sucks, I hope they do at the next PPV or something. The guy is a ****ing legend, fighters are often starstruck by him, he's a ref that has to sign autographs for shits sake. What was best about him was he was geniuenly interested in fighter saftey, he was the reason for the implementation of ref stoppages before sanctioning, and always makes sure the guy who got hurt is ok and as rediculous as it sounds is somewhat fatherly and comforting to them. Didnt do a good job in the earliers UFC`s did he? I saw Patrick Smith elbow the **** out of some poor guys head in UFC2.. Anyway why has he retired?
he was a hell of alot better then that twit of a ref in UFC 1 when guys were tapping and he didn't know what the **** to do, he would sit there with his arms held out but wouldn't stop the fight...and the guy was tapping frantically..... it was a miracle nobody got seriously hurt .
Wonder how much he was making doing it. Best of luck to him. He definitely has to be the most recognized ref in the world.
Hmmm sounds a bit dodgy to me.His one of the most known refs in the world as well as having a huge amount of respect amongst his peers.I smell a rat.
And the stupid continues to run wild on this forum. The athletic commisions employee the refs, not the organizations, I don't think Jon was ever a Zuffa employee, only SEG before sanctioning.
