keep in mind unclebedbug has a learning disability whereby he refuses to pay attention to specific points while continuing to argue all around them in any way possible :bbb

its because he hits like a little girl with broken collar bones, he is using this forum to overcompensate :p

I don't see anything in Tate at any year he was better than 1990 douglas.I still would use Tucker as measuring stick, just based on he did go the distance with lewis if anything.

Douglas had more skill than Tate on their best nights imo

    I would take Douglas.

We're still not talking about the same thing.. I'm not comparing Douglas to Tate. Only your statement about Tucker being " easily a level or two above tate." I agreed that he had more longevity and durability. But he also had very few quality wins.. And if you haven't seen Tucker vs Lewis, I can tell you that Tucker was only in there to survive. Not win...

    Tate.

He kept those hands up higher than Buster. I don't think Buster can land his punches much through that high guard of Tate's. And when Tate punched, he brought those hands back straight.

It was douglas who brought those hands back low. He's the guy leaving open the windows. And Buster dropped those hands always as rounds went buy. It was something you could always count on for him to do.

So I am going with a Tate decision. Better conditioned guy as well and this one is going a lot of rounds.

Another thing is Tate was a major league road warrior in that Coetzee fight. Lets put Buster in the ring in front of 80,000 fans all cheering for the other guy. I don't think Douglas would have been anything other than an opponent if he was forced to take that act of his into the lions den. The Tyson fight was nuetral territory. That's hardly the same thing.

There's no comparison between the Douglas of the Tyson fight and the best version ever of John Tate...Buster would OWN John Tate.

John Tate would mess Buster up. Fought better comp earlier on, and if not for a fluke, would have been a very, very good heavyweight if he avoided Page and Dokes.

I see Tate roughing up Douglas ahead of either a late stoppage, or a UD. Buster was very good, and even better on that given night in Tokyo, but his win over Tyson has made him quite overrated head to head when he was competitive with a non peak Tyson who partied the night before- Still a magnificent win and triumph for him, but we have to keep all that in mind.

I think the Tate of Coetzee/Knoetze would have his way with Buster.

Big Bus bullied a Tyson who was shorter and smaller, albeit more explosive and powerful as a puncher. But Douglas easily out-physicaled him and tore him up with that jab.

Big John was an imposing guy who could be physical and really wore guys down. Good offensive machine and responsible defensively (til that one moment vs. Weaver).

I see John pounding his way to a 15-round UD.
