Thread is about Big Josh, but Wilder's draw against Fury is arguably better than anything on AJ's ledger.
This is a problem in modern day boxing, and not just for heavyweights. Many boxers fight infrequently, many take the path of least resistance, opponent wise, and many try to stack certain conditions in their favour going into a fight (weight clauses, not letting their opponent use certain gloves, etc), so if you want to, you can pick many fighters CV's apart. Too many fans fail to remain objective and pick certain fighters CV's apart whilst failing to highlight the same problem in other fighters.
All things considered, I'd go for Wlad. Wlad was old, but Joshua was in his 19th pro fight and his best win was an inexperienced Whyte.
The win against Povetkin was a beauty. Povetkin started well too and Joshua was able to reverse the momentum of the fight.
It's got to be W/K for me IMO. That was the first time that AJ had to get his arse off the deck and show some balls, unknown territory for AJ but he proved himself mentally that night for me. The downside of that though was AJ was never quite the same after with his seek and destroy mental attitude. The rest is history so to speak.
Wlad was his best win and whether he was 40 years old and on the slide or not, he was still a superb fighter who prepared well for that fight and not the 'washed up old man' that some like to spout nonsense about
Thread is about Big Josh's best win. Big Josh doesn't have a draw on his resume, you introduced Wilder to a Big Josh thread, Wilders draw against Fury is possibly a better result than anything Josh has on his ledger.
But it really isn’t. What was that draw worth if he gets smashed twice? Fury was coming off his sofa the first fight.
Im not a AJ fan. But the Wlad win is still a great win despite him being past his best. Povetkin was also a solid win despite him also not being in his prime Pulev however was a complete shadow of his former self. Totally past it, compared to when he won 11 out of 12 rounds against Chisora and beat Hughie Fury easily.
1 W Klitschko - shot to pieces, coming off a loss, never fought again 2 Povetkin - shot to bits 3 Ruiz Jr - clinically obese, immobile, grinning 4 Whyteleafe - one armed novice 5 Parker - AJ's best win in my considered opinion
