Maccarinelli is pretty good - trouble was he was being spoonfed guys like Bobby Gunn and looked great blasting guys out within a round, and his performance in the Braithwaite fight was excellent and appears to be getting better with every prospect that Braith seems to be knocking off. He was ill prepared for topping the bill on the biggest boxing show in London for quite some time, having topped the undercard of Joe Calzaghe's last few fights, whilst Haye had headlined on FFN a few times and fought abroad in Paris of all places to win the title. BBC also had him #3 in the Brit P4P rankings which he must have seen, when the likes of Froch and Witter (especially) should have been in front of him - and the Sports Network publicity train was in full swing. He is probably fringe world class at best, WBO level if you like (Dan, Mike) and would give the leading names a stern examination - but good footwork and hand speed are dynamite at cruiser and heavy - things that the Hayemaker has in spades.
Maccarinelli would beat Hide imo. Both are chinny and both are bangers but i think at this stage in their respective careers Mac would find Hides chin before Hide finds Mac's. Maccarinelli in 4
all the best cruiserweights are going to be fighting in the contender season 4. so macca is gonna have a clean slate for at least a year fighting only bums.
Enzo Maccarenelli aid he is like a caged animal and is straining at the leash to return - eager to prove a point that the Haye fight has not finished him and he is still the best crusierweight in the world in his own head. Wether or not he is the best crusierweight remains to be seen - he has to prove it - fight the best cruiserweights now Haye has gone - Mormeck, Aleexev, Cunnigham, Jonathan Banks, etc, etc
