Big packed out Arena's and competitive fights? My arse Matchroom!

Terrible card turned off halfway through purdy fight.

Tonight was about getting the likes of Groves & Barker back in the ring to get ticking over whilst also getting them in the public eye.. doesn't take a genius to work out the more a casual fan has seen/heard a name the better bigger fights sell e.g. More ££££

 

One promoter gets the benefit of the doubt all the time, one doesnt.

 

It wasn't that bad. I can't believe people are moaning so much about it.

 

Competitive high level fights in British boxing have never been that common.

 

Allot of posters just love the chance to bring hearn down. There posts have a certain glee to it .I was there and it wasn't the best card I have been to by a long way it was not as bad ad people are making out.He can and will do better, but still not a bad week for him.

 

You have to consider that two of the three biggest fights were both arranged at a weeks notice too, so even if people think it was ****, it's hardly an indication of being a bad promoter or anything. I'm sure if Hearn had time, he'd have liked two better opponents than Rivera and Balmaceda but that's how it goes sometimes. As long as boxing exists there'll be cancellations and late replacements, it's just part of the sport.

At least with Hearn this is the exception. An average, quickly put together card and people are tripping over themselves to complain? I think that says something about how good Hearn's shows typically are.

It's likely in response to the constant claims, particularly by you Jack, that Hearn is "doing things right". If you make a big deal of the fact that the quality of your shows is better, consistently, than the others, you need to expect a slating when you deliver mediocre product.

And Prizefighter is utter ****.

 

Nobody in their right mind would slate a promoter for a fight put together on quick notice. It happened tonight with Purdy/Rivera and Groves/Balmaceda. It happens all the time, and it's just part of boxing.

Hearn does deliver better shows. Tonight was a blip, but one largely forced upon Hearn because of the issue with Jones and not having enough time to find good opponents for Barker and Groves.
