The fight was very interesting to watch and I admit that I thought Hopkins will beat Kovalev because of his experience and his craftiness. Anyway Kovalev showed elite boxing skills and solid composure, sticking to his boxing game-plan and not rushing in to the fight. On the other hand Hopkins showed an iron chin by taking Kovalev's best clean shots. I'd dare to say that Hopkins has a chance to win the WBC LHW title from Stevenson. I'd like to see this fight too. I noticed that Kovalev tends to get caught off balance, not hurt but off balance.
I'm proud of Hopkins, no complaining of slipping, getting hit in the back of the head, getting hit in the balls, he has to use the restroom immediately, or sorry excuses like that. He took his beating like grandpa Boxing He Wrote.
Yeah probably Adonis beats him too but you can't underestimate and overlook a fighter like Hopkins. :yep
While I was a little sad to see Hopkins finally get made to look his age, I am also happy Kovalev not only won but did so in a fashion that proved he is more than just a puncher but a fine boxer as well. Kovalev couldn't have chosen a better way to win, he dominated and looked every bit the champion he is. Exciting times are ahead at light heavy with an exciting, hard hitting champion. The fights just need to be made, Stevenson, Pascal, Beterbiev and Ward are all good fights that will hopefully come to fruition.
