Big props for Thurman - he's a tough fighter

Thurman was up on the scorecards anyway, Collazo only won the last 2 or 3 rounds. Plus, Collazo wanted to stop the fight because he couldn't see.

 

How can it go to the scorecards? Collazo quit? He kept saying 'I can't see' the officials take this as I can't fight any longer.

 

If we look at past examples, Nate Campbell had an extremely similar situation in his fight with Tim Bradley, where he told the ref he could not see out of his eye due to a head-butt. The fight was ruled a TKO win for Bradley, but was overturned weeks later by the State Athletic Commission to a NO CONTEST because it was the result of the butt.

Essentially, a fighter can be head-butted and refuse to fight claiming foul play and or accidental injury and surely should get a NC because a head-butt is after all an illegal punch.

 

It was good to see him face some adversity. I wanted to see how he'd react when someone was on his ass and trying to knock his head off. But it was especially good for him because now he knows what it feels like...
He pushed through, despite wanting to take a knee. The next time it happens, he'll think back to this and know that he can endure. Fair weather boxing fans kill me sometimes...all boxers have faced adversity, it's just how they react that defines them to a large degree.
