Big fights headlining on rival networks Saturday night. HBO featuring a double header with Takashi Miura battling grizzled veteran AND RIDING an 18 fight win streak Miguel Roman. In the main event Francisco 'Bandeedo" Vargas returns to take on once beaten Miguel Berchelt! Two excellent fights that should be full of action with possible stoppages in both. On Rival network Showtime, and the card that packs more punch, at least for me anyways features 2016 FOTY Carl Frampton returning to defend in a rematch against Leo Santa Cruz. The first fight was an excellent back and forth battle with a lot of close rounds. Will it be repeat, or REVENGE? In the Co main event, and the fight I'm looking foward to the most, pits Undefeated Dejan Zlaticanin defending for the first time against 2 division World champion Mikey Garcia! 8 boxers, 4 magnificent fights, who are you picking?
Miguel Roman might be able to Spring the upset here. I think he's durable as a duralast battery, and if it becomes a battle of wills, I think Miura might wilt.. I gotta mull this one over a bit.
Also on the HBO undercard: Sadam Ali is continuing his comeback against 22-12 Jorge SIlva. Tureano Johnson is taking on Antonio Gutierrez what is surely to be an action packed affair. Over on SHO, Lee Selby is seemingly being set up as the next opponent to Frampton/Cruz
Selby's fight is going to be on Showtime Extreme huh? Barros is a tough dude and Selby doesn't have a lot of power either, that's going to be a long night for Selby.
This weekend is absolute madness. HBO will be more entertaining but Showtime will be more meaningful. Mikey Garcia-Dejan is the fight I'm most looking forward too, and LSC-Frampton 2 has more value than the fights on HBO.
For me Zlaticanin-Garcia is the best fight, I rate Zlaticanin and he is Mikey's first top-level opponent since his comeback. I'm curious to see whether he has the ability to get back on the p4p lists. Or is Zlaticanin going to get a big win himself? Can't wait for the weekend!
