Kendall Holt after mouthing off to Bradley during the pre fight instructions proceeded to be out hustled by a fighter I don't think he took seriously. Bradley was pissed at Holt, and wanted to show Holt how tough he was rather than fight his fight, and was caught by a hellacious left hook which I thought was a fight ender. Bradley got up, and then took a knee, and showed no signs of being hurt after that for the rest of the entire fight. Bradley might not be able to punch, but he has speed, defense, and a decent chin. Bradley used his body attck and constant in your face punching to wear down Holt who was clearly frustrated last night. I was disappointed because Holt imo truly underestimated Bradley. You can't think that you will just walk in there and ko a guy. I did not get a chance to see the whole Andrade fight, but at the times I just peeked in, I saw him roughing Tsypko up. Andrade looked good yesterday. He jabbed, body punched, and just stayed on the attack and never stopped. Tysypko never got into the fight at all. He showed tremendous heart in lasting, but lost a onesided fight. Uconn and Villanova total disappointing the big East lol. The crowd was antsy at first because Julio Diaz was doing all the work, but when Reyes opened up, his right hands were stunning Diaz...when he threw them. Reyes bided his time, and then BOOM a let hook followed by a right hand short circuited Diaz, and then Reyes kept landing upper cuts which put Diaz down. Diaz got up hurt, and proceeded to get hit with left, rights and left uppercuts, right uppercuts...but the right hand is what did the trick. the fight shouldn't have been stopped imo, but a case could be made for it to be stopped. Diaz was up early afterhe went down a second time, but he was flailing all over the place before the stoppage. I was happy Carlos Hernandez finished on his feet. C.H is as tough as they come, and always tried to win. Escobedo was just the younger, stronger man. He landed a left-right in the first which put C.H down, and then landed a big right in round 2 which put him down again. Both times C.H did not see the punches and I thought he was done until he popped right back up like the tough guy that he is. C.H landed a big left hook, and left to the body in the third which wobbled Escobedo, but he survived. Escobedo fought kind of dirty, and an elbow cut C.H's eyes which gave him trouble till the fight ended. Escobedo's jab was the key to the win. In round 6, C.H stepped on Escobedo's foot and wasn't really a knock down, but it was ruled one. C.H is just a super tough guy. Katsidis came out with a jab which was surprising, but Chavez controlled the fight in the beginning, but it seemed a inadvertant butt cut Jesus at the scalp, and then Katsidis's being aggressive and maybe a few other butts pretty much did the job, and Chavez's corner or Chavez had to retire. The fight was close, but the cut would not stop bleeding, and it got worse as it was all over Chavez's face after every round after he suffered the cut. Valero won a one sided first round but was hit with a wrist punch which didn't land clean, but valero's counter straight lefts were landing, and he threw it twice before both stared each other down at the end of round 1. round 2 starts, and within 5 seconds, Valero lands a grazing left and a razor sharp, slicing right hook on Pitalua's chin which hurt him badly. Valero then finished him off with a wo Camacho like flurries. Valero will watch the tape and see he could've went to the body, but he kept his guy hurt. Pitalua couldn't even throw a punch back because he was so stunned by the first shot.
When Pitalua grazed Valero with the wrist/forearm Valero gave him a look that was basically one of imminent death..lol..Seconds later in the next round it was lights out. Escobedo and Carlos both really showed their grit. A huge win for Escobedo's career. Reyes I thought might lose because of lack of work rate but it was obvious the straight right was there for him and he picked it up in the 5th and it was lights out. I thought Katsidis was looking pretty crude as usual. I was surprised Chavez quit because even though the momentum had shifted in favor of Katsidis the last round and a half the fight was close. I wonder if he possibly he has some other injury besides just the cut. Katsidis looked busted up himself from punches. It was a great PPV card. Better than the ones we usually get!
I felt justified in buying the PPV thats for sure, I wonder who good it did across the world in terms of PPV numbers.
No one is talking about the Andrade-Tyscko(?) fight. I thought it was great. The Ukrainian took a lot of punishment, but he also got some big shots in. The 12th round was great....started out with Andrade almost KOing the Uke, but got tired and was holding on in the end. I was a candidate for round of the year IMO. All Andrade wanted to talk about after the fight was Lucian Bute, who was in the audience. Finally....I love those French Canadian round card girls....
