who is the bigest/hardest-puncher of "all-time"-in the (heavyweight)-division? i say its between "3"-earnie shavers, george foreman, sonny liston. who is the bigest/hardest-puncher?
My vote goes to George Foreman. :good Many fighters like Shavers and Tua can claim to be harder punchers, but they never knocked out the quality of opposition George did. :good
Most of the 70s era heavyweights say that Shavers had the heaviest hands of all the heavyweights back then.
I think Ali said Shavers hit him the hardest. And IIRC, Holmes said that Iron Mike's power felt like getting hit by a speeding sportscar, but Shavers power felt like getting hit by a runaway mack truck. Something like that.
Ike didn't hit that hard, Ike is a bit of a myth IMO. Foreman for me is the biggest single punch hitter.
Ike, what could of been? Tua hit him hard in there meeting, wasnt it said there fight is the one that sent Ike crazy?
Alex Stewart who faced Tyson, Foreman, Holyfield , Moorer , Jorge Gonzales and many more told me in 2003 that the hardest puncher he faced in fact pound for pound was Evander Holyfield, he said Mike was very heavyhanded but extremely fast more than powerful.. George was a hard puncher but a bit of a clubber, Moorer had quick snappy punches especially the jab, But Evander hurt him with almost every single shot he hit him with.. Interesting.. For what its worth.......
