Bigfoot Silva was going to crush Overeem anyway so Alistair's withdrawal won't change the overall outcome of the Strikeforce tournament. Bigfoot wasn't going to have the strength disadvantage against Overeem like Werdum did. He'll walk over and push the Deomolition Man right down and then beat on him with giant Donkey Kong hammerfists. The fans just lost the pleasure of seeing it happen in the cage.

I hate to say it because I am a Overeem fan - but it sounds like to me that he knew he was going to lose and didn't want anything to do with it.

LOL at the irony. Talking about how BigFoots going to smash Overeem at the beginning of the thread, and then how your such a fan of Overeem :rofl

Anyways, I'm a bigger fan of Overeem, but like BigFoot. I don't think anybody could currently SMASH Overeem...He could be beaten but he's far to powerful to at least not make it a somewhat competive fight. I don't think he'd smash BigFoot either. I think it'd be a good, competitive match up where the better fighter wins it.
It's hard for me to be in this tournament now with Overeem leaving. Seems like such a joke...No offense to the other 3, but sucks when a guy is left out of a tournament (especially the champ) whenever he never suffered a loss.

We could speculate all we want. Reality is we don't know who would have won the fight, it probably would have been a great one.

When all is said and done, Strikeforce / Zuffa wouldn't hold up their end of the bargain and keep the fight as it was scheduled. Overeem had beef with that, called them on it and is on record saying he needs the time to recover from injury and prepare for an opponent as serious as Bigfoot.

As fans we should be pissed at the orgs for not holding their end the the bargain, and trying to bully Overeem into fighting earlier than he was comfortable with. We lose.

Did Reem specify what type of injury he had??

Something tells me no, and I would have known by now.

I hope we eventually get to see him in the matchups we want with UFC fighters.
