Yeesh. From 2010-2016 GGG had nothing but contender opponents. Part from ducking but part from bad luck (Sergio and Pirog basically retired), two MWs who were supposed to take over were hypejobs in JCC Jr and Quillin, and Cotto was a small MW who never even fought at 160 (159, 157, and 155) and Canelo was campaigning at 155...

Really bad luck for GGG. But he didn't beat any of Canelo, Jacobs, or Dervenchenko better than Ike beat Byrd and Tua and both of those guys were better than Jacobs and Dervenchenko

Canelo clearly cuts massive amounts of weight throughout his career. Why offer an additional advantage to a guy that so obviously uses weight as a means to gain an advantage? Especially when GGG was the mandatory? Voluntarily accomodating Rosado who was moving up seems ballsy to me.

Ward wanted a ton of money that he himself did not generate. In the end GGG caved to the 168 demand and Ward still ran away. I forgot about Ward ducking, it's legit.

Two more fighters that bore the hell out of people. He may well be fighting Lara anyway. There's a reason why guys like Lara struggle to get fights.

 There has rarely been a fighter as accomodating of his opponents as Golovkin.

Lol! :D The “I wasn’t knocked out! I wasn’t even knocked down!” was Zab Juda after Kostya clipped him. But yes Byrd was arguing with the ref he was fine.

I think Wlad hit Chris harder with his straight right to be honest (Even Chris would say that) but Ike did crack him. No doubt.

And there are MANY who feel Tua should have gotten the nod in his fight against Ibeabuchi. Especially winning those later rounds after Ike got tired and slowed down. Tia started to land the left hook more and more.

You know C.J. I know for a fact that Ike was the one guy Frank Maloney the manager of Lennox Lewis wanted to avoid and he was very clear about it.

How can you even compare the two even in a hypothetical career ? One of these fighters never even challenged for a World title and the other was involved in multiple World title fights !

Yep, 22-1-1 (20) KO'S in middleweight title fights and the loss and draw were both robberies.

    Neither of them were Boogeymen.

Hoylfield, Bowe, and Lewis were scarier opponents than Ike ever was and they wouldn't hesitate to fight him had he not been sent to prison. It's only in online h2h discussions and comments sections where Ike suddenly becomes one the most powerful heavyweights of all time while sorely lacking any credentials to back up such an idea. Knocking out a blown up feather fisted light heavyweight Byrd and barely out pointing the limited 1 armed Tua (a fight that could have gone the other way) aren't very convincing performances.

Golovkin is a manufactured fighter who strategically avoided the most dangerous fighters of his era to chase paydays with Canelo over and over. Only a handful of fighters avoided him and when he had plenty of options to choose from, Golovkin chose the path of least resistance.

Not sure about the question cause one had a career and the other went to prison while starting career. GGG career isn’t a what if. He is still fighting in his 40s. Ike went to prison with just 5 years into his career.

I think others have stated it , Ike is more of what if and GGG is more of a what if the 1st Canelo wasn’t a draw.
