Bigger win?

  1. Deontay Wilder: Luis Ortiz, March 2018

  2. Anthony Joshua: Alexander Povetkin, 2018

Anthony Joshua's best win is definitely Wladimir Klitschko, whom he defeated in April 2017. But his second best win, IMO, is Alexander Povetkin, whom he knocked out in September 2018. AJ has other high quality wins on his resume but this one stands out for me.

Best win of Deontay's Wilder career is Luis Ortiz, most likely from their match up in March 2018. Wilder was tested to the extreme and this test he indeed passed.

Which one of these wins do you guys consider a bigger one?

Wlad, Parker, Povetkin all were bigger wins than Ortiz. Wlad by country mile

Povetkin, and by a long way.

Ortiz probably would not even make Joshua's top 5... Certainly his top 3 (Wlad, Povetkin and Parker) and probably not over Whyte or Pulev either.
We'll never really know because Ortiz didn't prove very much, and ran away when given the chance to fight Joshua.

Joshua and Wilder's resumes are on totally, totally different levels.

I would argue Parker win was bigger too.

I think there is an argument to be made that win over Ortiz should be rated higher than AJ's win against Pulev.

An argument, sure, but then we're talking about an argument about whether Ortiz would just about sneak into Joshua's top 5 - with no question over the top 3 or 4.

Still makes the point comfortably about their relative resumes.

Yeah, just to be clear, I'm not comparing resumes. AJ's resume is WAAAAY better than Wilder's, who only has Stiverne and Ortiz on it to be honest. Only wanted to compare these 2 wins from 2018.

On the side note - AJ lowkey had a great 2018. Parker and Povetkin are both great wins. Kinda sad it was overshadowed by Fury Wilder I.

Fair enough, you're not wrong that there's levels between their resumes - those wins are still worlds apart, IMHO, though.

It's good to see that despite the bias towards Wilder on here it's still clearly acknowledged in the voting (9:1 currently), too.

I mean, you have Ortiz who ducked a much bigger paycheck for a Joshua fight so he could rematch Wilder (presumably because he knew Wilder was more beatable and a better chance of getting a belt - maybe intending to fight Joshua for better money if he won?) and Wilder who wanted nothing to do with either Povetkin OR Joshua.

I would say it's not only clear that Povetkin is a much better win than Ortiz, but Povetkin was probably better win than Wilder as well.

I would say Joseph Parker is a better win he was undefeated and a champion when Joshua beat him.

Add to the fact Parker has gone on to beat Wilder convincingly that certainly adds to Joshua's win over Parker.
