He wasted a lot of time under poor promotion, so I don't hold hat against him. He has the pedigree to be one of the all time best, let's see if he lives up to it. Hopkins and Calzaghe didn't have that great an opposition early on either, give him time.
Man, you guys go too hard on the GGG fanboys. I expect a hundred Wilder and Ward troll threads after this.
But you hold it against Andre Ward...he's had promotional problems. GGG's weak comp is able to expose glaring flaws in his game. The pedigree is not there. He doesn't bring his punches back....he drops them to his waist...THEN he brings them up. Bad news..
calzaghe barely has any great opposition..... and hopkins went up and fought the best at 168 and 175 ggg will never do that
1.Mayweather didn't have a middleweight belt and Golovkin wasn't his mandatory. 2.He'd have a good chance of beating Froch and Chavez Jr, but Ward would have every advantage. I still think he should have done it. But I understand why he wouldn't risk it. The real difference between Ward vs Golovkin and Golovkin vs Alvarez is that Golovkin wasn't holding a super middleweight belt hostage. 3.From what I've heard he negotiated with all of them. Besides, he wants to fight Alvarez, so it's not like he doesn't want to fight the best at middleweight. 4.I don't think he's asking for the bigger cut of the money. He just wants a fair fight. 5.Now you are just getting GGG mixed up with Alvarez. Golovkin fought several top ten rated guys at 160. When they lost they dropped out of the top 10. I'm pretty sure Lemieux, Monroe Jr, Murray, Geale, Macklin, and Proksa were all top 10 rated when he fought them, possibly others too.
this thread goes to show you how canelo is actually blessing to the sport and GGG is the exact thing we dont' need.... a hype job who fights nothing but garbage and gets praised for it.
everyone keeps harping on mando this...green belt that realize the normal rules dont apply anymore...the wbc will play canelos game...the rules have changed.....so should your pursuit of that belt ggg is going to sit there and play the waiting game till the wbc becomes a straight forward, by the book, organization....and thats not going to happen lol......
I don't hold anything against Ward, except for his recent diva behavior. All EE posters must seem alike to you at this point. Ward is one of my most respected fighters. GGG technique is near flawless. He drops his hands because he makes his opponents too scared to commit, something Calzhaghe used to do with his flurry of slaps with his hand low, or what Vitali Klistschko used to do with his superior timing. Genady showed he can avoid being hit when he fought a top notch knockout artist. PS: I don't think pedigree means what you think it means
1. It was 154 lbs and meeting a welterwieght in the middle is different than going down to fight a guy in the same weightclass who holds a title you're Mando for 2.Froch and Chavez brought money to the table as incentive to put his main goal to the side. Ward does not. Of course you're probably read this 100 on these forums but would rather parrot your previous point than refute it. You may provide a refutation that puts GGG in the wrong or you may not but either one is better than repeating statements over and over. 3. Negotiations with Andy Lee and Pirog happened and a large offer to Saunders was made as well as an agreement to fight in the UK. 4. Refusing to fight at 155 isn't a demand. It's a refusal to take Canelo's demand on the basis of the WBC's rules that favor GGG. A demand would be ring size, glove brand, drug testing conditions, purse over 25%, etc.. 5.is this excluding Canelo? Because other than that none exist.
the monkeys are out of the cage, so to speak. canelo calls himself middleweight champion. has he ever weighed in at 160? will he weigh in at 160 for his next fight?
