Reminds me a bit of Italian Joe Gans. :-( Not quite there.

I remember reading an article where Arum said that Pavlik would beat Hagler

Another great post from you. :good

Everything you said was on the money. I would only add that in Williams case, he gave Sergio a rematch after squeaking by the first time (though I did have the 1st fight for Sergio). Williams didn't have to give Sergio a rematch after a tough fight like that. But he did. Fans like us wanted to see them do it again, so at least there was a second fight.

Both of these guys went 12 to 13 rounds with Maravilla.

To be fair, Williams was also standing at the end of his fight against Martinez when he got a (controversial) decision win over him the first time. Remember that??? :smoke

The fact is, Sergio seems to be one of those fighters that does very, very well in rematches. He scored this spectacular KO in the second fight against Williams. Pav has only fought Sergio once.

I agree with your statements...sure they won..but their victories were hyped out of proportion..it also show us how diluted the LMW and MW division are...I am not taking notthing away from Sergio, he can punch, he is slick but he is no Monzon...nor Hagler ..nor BHop...he pack a punch and did what it was required of him....only time wil tell...Pavlik the same...the same....we are in trouble if we start beleiving the hype around this boxers....

Pavlik did not possess a diverse skill set to back up his blistering form, while Williams was just starched by an under rated world class boxer.

Both are great fighters, and neither are hype.

I don't know. I don't think either of them have proven to be great fighters at any time. Both good fighters for sure, but I never think of them as great.

Williams is a hype job bcuz Martinez KO'd him with that punch? Ok... Both can probably continue success, just not against someone like Martinez. They may not be the best, but they clearly are both good fighters. Martinez has the style to beat them both...

Neither is a hypejob.:deal Hype jobs get exposed long before they win world championships and they don't beat worldclass fighters. I swear ESB has really gone to ****.

The TS is a pefect example of why I have repeatedly made the claim that "boxng fans" are boxing's worst enemy.

This poll is a joke. Both men were very good but soon fought someone better who was underrated (Martinez). How about Mike Jones and Andre Berto? They are being hyped so much yet they will soon be exposed. I thought Andre Ward was somewhat hyped in the beginning of his career but has proven himself in his last couple of fights.
