Discuss I thought May should have gotten 10-8's for both. Which one was a bigger landslide round? [yt]1w62Wvsxq0k[/yt] [yt]bJrCY2qwhgI[/yt] 40:58
Been a while since I saw the Hatton fight and I dont remember the 11th being some kind of stand out round links?
Thanks for the quick link, I vote Hatton round 8 as more of a landslide and that was a great round. I know people like to call Floyd boring but that round had the crowd up on its feet. Hatton did have a good second minute in close landed a few rights but then Floyd hit him with the same left hook he drops him with later and hurt him bad I will say Hatton lost fair and square but he put up a hell of a fight and made Floyd fight all 10 rounds. Cotto did the same, I watched that again on MSG Network (a sports channel from where I live) and that was a very exciting fight as Cotto was able to bring out the best in Floyd As for the Pacquiao round 11 he got hit less but he didnt hurt him like he hurt Hatton. I remember for years Pacquiao fans on this board saying hes too quick he uses angles in and out and Floyd wont handle it.....Whenever Manny attacked in flurries he hit air. His best moments to my surprise were countering Floyd and he tried his own little pull counter on Floyd in round 11 though it either came short or landed ineffectually Side note: I love how SHO posts round highlights they have one of the dominant Floyd vs Canelo rounds and I watched Hopkins drop and stagger Shumenov
Void Sr never called his son a sissy in the Hugton fight but he was a scurred sissy against Pack! Ask his Daddy, if i am lying!
Thats the problem with some of the big fights. Yhey get made then the coach comes up with some master gameplan thats away from how they normally fight. Tried to counterpunch the counterpuncher when pac should have been trying to overwhelm him with punches. Either way dont think it would have won pacman the fight. Mayweather just that little bit better.
10-8's without a knockdown should only be given out under extreme circumstances like a fighter being beaten pillar to post barely surviving but somehow not getting knocked down. That has happened in the past but I cannot think of any examples off the top of my head. Oh yeah, you see Hatton hitting on the hip below the belt and butt of Mayweather trying desperately to tire out his legs. After a Holyfield interview where he talked about that old school tactic I see it all the time now. Refs rarely seem to catch it.
