One of those bums was at 154 with 10 ounce gloves, the other in a fight where Zab supposedly injured his hand. But anyway, Zab starched Cory Spinks at 147. Something a prime Mayorga couldn't do. Roman Karmazin at 154 or Jermain Taylor at 160. He starched Cosme Rivera in 3 rounds. Rivera who went the distance with Andre Berto and Joel Julio both and not tasting the canvas. And he rocked Mayweather with a left hand. Zab's straight lefts and uppercuts are lethal. He's more likely to end a fight with a single shot than Cotto and Mosley are.
At his best weight of 135 Shane was a beast and one of if not the biggest banger in the game. Shane isnt a big guy and really never had any business fighting above 140. Cotto is a guy that will end his career maybe as a lt heavy. He is a big kid that never had any business fighting at 140. It was so bad that had he stayed there any longer he would have lost to a lesser guy due to cutting the weight. I also think that his days at 147 are numbered. P4p Shane is a bigger banger. Cotto isnt a one punch guy not even at 140. Shane was at 135.
Cotto is without a doubt the harder puncher, but this doesn't mean that Judah doesn't have a chance against Mosley. As of right now, I'm favoring Mosley to win, but this fight may turn out to be a lot closer than people think it will. Cotto destroys Judah + Mosley has a close fight with Cotto doesn't = Mosley will have an easy time with Judah.
Don't forget Shane's defense liabilities and true style. Shane is always very suceptible to a jab, so it's Judah's job to keep up a snappy one and throw it at a very rapid pace. Shane isn't terribly hard to find with power punches either; Cotto was hitting him with left hooks and straight right hands, Vargas was finding him with straight rights in their first fight, and before Collazo was injured, he landed a few straight lefts down the pipe. Shane doesn't have the fundamental defense of Bernard Hopkins, James Toney, or Floyd Mayweather. Sure they a rely a good deal on reflexes and speed, but not to the extent that Shane does. As he ages, and his body slows down bit by bit, we will see him get hit more. Who knows if he will age bad between the Cotto loss and the Judah fight? Also, Shane isn't one to outbox/potshot guys from the outside and give safety-first defensive displays. He's a mid-range boxer/slugger who tends to paw with the jab (leaving him vulnerable to straight right hand counters over the jab) and throws looping power shots, especially with the right hand. If Zab comes fully prepared, I expect this to be a close affair, which Mosley's superior physical strength and ability to make it a dog-fight giving him the edge.
cotto is a wrecking machine i laugh at all the haters he had back in the day. i recall people picking kelson pinto to beat him and abdullaev LOL
That's pretty much what I wanted to say, but a much better and longer explanation. It all depends on how Judah shows up and if Mosley looks older or not after the Cotto fight. I think Floyd Sr. is a very good addition to Zab's team.. he usually makes his boxers fight more focused, defensive fights and stick to gameplans better. Shane also has trouble with southpaws and Zab is the fastest (both foot/hand speed) fighter he has ever fought. Still, I see Zab breaking down again in this fight and losing a close decision. Mosley showed that he is still elite or near elite in the Cotto fight, his chin/will to win is still amazing, and his stamina/reflexes are still good enough to compete on the highest level.
Cotto is much more heavy-handed. Mosely's is physically very strong, but he doesn't have the punch that Cotto has, or Judah.
cotto right now is the bigger puncher but prime for prime (especially when mosley was a LW) i would say mosley edges cotto in power
