Well, what makes you think the Ortiz fight would be any different? Ortiz is younger, but that's about it (though you can argue he's a bigger puncher). He's less skilled than current Cotto, without the ring savvy, footwork, or ability to cut off the ring. He lacks a jab, while Cotto has one of the best in the business. And he has an even more porous defense than Cotto. If Floyd would "trash" current Cotto, then he should absolutely murder Ortiz.

I don't think Floyd is going to murder Ortiz. I expect a 9-3 fight give or take. Im not trying to build Ortiz into something he's not. This is a good fight. If / when Mayweather wins it will be a decent victory.

I just think Cotto has lost some steps since each beating he took.

Cotto and it's not close, just like what the poll results say. Ortiz is not in Cotto's level.

I think some that have voted have done so with the mindset that bigger problem equals better boxer. Cotto can still be the better boxer but Ortiz gives Floyd more problems.

Styles make fights. Ortiz being a southpaw, young, fast, and strong equals a greater threat to FLOYD MAYWEATHER. That does not automatically make him the better boxer then Cotto

PRIME COTTO by far and you can't compare this cocky ass Ortiz to what Cotto was. Ortiz hasn't proved **** yet.

You make it seem like any good athlete can be considered an "All Time Great". lol No....Cotto's not an all time great....but he's a great fighter and he's proven that. There have been a lot of great fighters who aren't "EVEN" considered an "ATG". It doesn't mean that on any given night great fighters can rise to the occasion and pull out a great performance.

How do you expect Ortiz to win rounds? He's definitely not going to outbox Floyd, and it's hard for me to imagine him landing with enough regularity to outpoint Mayweather at any point of the fight.

I expect this to look somewhat like the latter rounds of the Ortiz-Peterson fight, where Peterson was landing virtually everything he threw at will. Only this time, I expect it to be more one-way traffic, eventually resulting in a referee or corner stoppage.

Being young and strong still doesn't eclipse the fact that Ortiz is still a one-dimensional plodder with no jab to speak of. His physical attributes and speed at this point are no greater than Cotto's, and even at this point, Ortiz is still a much more limited fighter than Miguel, regardless of youth.

I don't think of Ortiz as a plodder, I actually think he has decent hand speed. And yes he is young and strong. Cotto could be just as strong, BUT, Ortiz is left handed, a SOUTHPAW, this gives him a better advantage against Floyd then Cotto in my opinion. Styles make fights. Ortiz's will, at first, give Mayweather problems. Cotto is tailored made for Floyd. Speed kills as Manny proved.

Me thinks you haven't seen the video where he (Floyd) did just that, and where Cotto used the whole, 'it's up to my promoter' line.

Ortiz he atleast brings speed size power and youth. Cotto IMO is past his best and not a big threat at all. Prime for prime maybe cotto but at this point clearly Ortiz.

I have always felt Cotto has been over-rated for some time. Just my opinion.

No right hand, slow foot speed, suspect defense and chin. I have never felt Cotto stood a chance against Mayweather, and that was when he was fresh and undefeated. The hype surrounding him had to do more with him being from Puerto Rico (die hard fans) and them trying to build him up as the next Trinidad. Unfortunately, hype does not equal skills in the ring, and Cotto has ALWAYS been a limited fighter. These same reasons are why I also predicted he would get knocked out by Pacquiao.

Cotto is shop worn now. I'll go with Ortiz based on that. I don't consider Ortiz any worse/better than Cotto was. They both have obvious flaws as a boxer.
