Foreman had a bum knee going into the fight. Besides the fact that you are talking about Yuri Foreman. (ugh)

Secondly, read what I posted about Cotto's injury. The guy has been fighting one-handed whether you want to admit it or not. He had surgery to remove scar tissue from his right shoulder last summer. Emergency surgery on his right shoulder 7 years ago. I'm telling you, if you watch his fights really closely, you can see the reluctance to use his right hand, and how less effective it is when he does land it. It's just not there for him.

I am a Cotto fan, not trying to rag on my boy, but he has some serious flaws he has had to overcome to be successful in the ring. Heart and tenacity have made a big difference in many of his bouts.

But Cotto isn't more flawed than Ortiz. That's what this thread is about.

Today? I don't know about that. Cotto is pretty shop-worn. I think Cotto vs Ortiz (at 147) would be a very interesting fight to be honest.

If we were talking about pre-Margarito Cotto, I would agree. But not today's version. He's older, slower, and more worn down.

Prime Cotto>Ortiz no question about it, but as it stands today Ortiz is a greater threat, IMO.

Where did you hear this? I recall an interview with Foreman after the fight where the interviewer asked if the injury was pre-existing. Yuri said he had injured the knee years prior, but it hadn't really troubled him until late in the Cotto fight when he collapsed.

Yeah, I've been aware of the injury since I started following him in 03/04.

I think it's clear he is a left-hand dominant fighter. But I also think it's inaccurate to argue his right hand is "non-existent."

We'll have to agree to disagree on the non-existent comment. Maybe the surgery cleaning up the scar tissue will help him, we will see.

Yuri's knee was ready to go at any time. That is the point. How many champions do you see going into the ring with a knee brace? Just saying. You know as well as I do, a lot of boxing is in your legs. Yuri Foreman was on a bum knee and borrowed time.

    2007/2008 Cotto> ORtiz BY a huge Margin.

    Now

    Ortiz>Cotto

Why do you think Mayweather retired he wanted none of the Prime WW's like Cotto and Margo...

So WW all fought each other, then came in PAC the vulture and picked up all the crumbs and fans call it cleaning the division when all the WW's fought each other first.

    COtto/Mosely/Clottey/Margo

    Margo/CLottey/Mosely/Cotto

    Mosely/ Cotto/ Margarito

    Clottey Margo/Cotto/

They all fought each other, then PAC the vulture swooped in at the perfect time to pick up the crumbs

No, this thread is about which of the two fighters poses a greater threat to Floyd Mayweather today, not when they were prime.

And today, Ortiz has a better chance of handing Floyd his 1st loss then Cotto does.

Foreman's knee didn't go until round seven. From rounds one through six, Yuri was just as healthy and mobile as he was in his best performances against Daniel Santos and James Moore, where he also wore a brace. Yet, he still lost virtually every round and was wobbled by a right hand long before he was injured.

Neither one actually. Both have shaky whiskers and this is no disrespect to either boxers. But one quits (Ortiz) the other runs away (Cotto).Who has the edge? I would probably say Ortiz because he won after being KD twice against Bertoe. He got up and won.whether he can continue to prove he is the ****, we'll see.If he can take Floyd punches he can take risk in the fight but will more than likely hit air instead of pay dirt. He will get clinic from FLoyd and possibly get put on the canvas ala Corrales style.

    GO FLOYD!!
