I'm going with Wlad-Sanders. When I seen Rahman knock out Sanders I was positive Wlad was going to do the same. It was Shocking seeing Sanders blitz Wlad the way he did, especially knowing how good Wlad would become. Sanders was no joke though, as he gave Vitali a tough fight as well.

Sanders blasting out Wlad in 2 rounds was a bigger upset for me. In retrospect he was a stylistic nightmare for Wlad and was one of the meanest heavyweight southpaws of the 21st century. The guy hit very hard and was awkward. Gave Vitali a very tough fight too.

Yes, this is why Wlad falls in an all time sense. He got Vitali to clean up when he sh@ the bed instead of taking the rematch. Lewis did it twice too.

Both unexpected results, but Wlad was always chinny, Lewis was undefeated.

I said he was more dangerous, not that he had a better CV, which is influenced in part by the lack of opportunities afforded to him due to Sanders being from SA. There’s an exhaustive list of boxers who have sparred or fought Sanders that said he was the hardest puncher they’ve ever fought. I can’t find any similar praise for McCall.

    Lewis - McCall

When Tyson went to prison many in the American media saw Donovan Ruddock as the heir apparent, and still saw Buster Douglas as an aberration on Tyson's record. Yes, Holyfield beat an out of shape Douglas, but he didn't beat Tyson.

So when that four man tournament was announced with the winner of Lewis v Ruddock destined to face off against the winner of Holyfield v Bowe, it caused shockwaves the manner in which Lewis despatched Ruddock. Then with Bowe dropping the belt in the trash to avoid Lewis. Everyone knew what was up, and it was only a matter of time til Lewis solidified himself as the real man of the division. Which obviously pissed off America

So, yeah, Lewis losing to McCall was a shock. A massive shock. And then the knives came out for Lewis in America saying he had never been all that. But we saw by the end of the era who was and who wasn't the real deal.

Show us that rematch of Lewis vs McCall.
It's mental people even mention this farse of a fight.
McCall was a mental midget and drug adduct at this point, and he was forced to go rematch Lewis, pretty much. He refuses to fight, and the fight was called off.
This ain't avenging a loss in my eyes.
Avenging a loss was what Lewis did vs Rahman.

Also at that time Klitschko didn't put rematch clauses, as he wasn't the top dog in the division. Something he learn and done later on his career. In order to get a rematch, you need the other guy to accept to rematch you, you know?
The only reason Klitschko didn't avenge any of his loses, with the exception of AJ is because his opponents refuses to gives him one.
And Fury duck is the most blatant one, as there was rematch clause in the contract.
At least with the other 2 cases, this wasn't the case, as there wasn't a rematch in the contract.

It's funny though how people bring Lewis avenging his losses, but then start making all the excuses for Ruiz, and claims he was fat, not training, properly, blq, blq, blq. And somehow forget that Ruiz was a late replacement, and AJ didn't take Ruiz seriously in the first fight.

The coin has 2 sides, you know ?

As far as the thread goes, both were huge upsets, so pick your poison, and btw both were Champions as well.

I agree with your post, but Wlad did avenge his lost to Brewster.

The main difference here is Lewis used his rematch clause and took Rahman to court to stop him making a defence against David Izon.

Wlad had a rematch clause too but didn't use it because he would've been knocked out again.

Sanders lost to Rahman the only notable name Sanders beat was in the upset win over Wladimir.

McCall had wins over Seldon, Akinwande, Lewis, old Holmes, Masakev.

Sanders was exciting and dangerous but really he didn't really beat anyone of note until Wladimir, his career got derailed after a shocking 2nd round stoppage to Nate Tubbs. And then after the loss to Rahman when he lost his opportunity at a potential fight to Lewis, his career seemed to be finished until the shocking win over Wladimir.
