    This right here.
I know this is an old thread, but it’s still entertaining.
For more perspective on the Jones / Tarver rematch shocking result, it was like the Gen X version of Ali knocking out Foreman or Douglas knocking out Tyson in Tokyo. Most of us serious fans at the time thought that Tarver had blown his one opportunity to beat Roy. Tarver had been obsessed with Roy for years, and Roy was cutting a lot of weight to get back down to 175. If Tarver couldn’t capitalize on those circumstances then he was screwed. For the rematch it was assumed that Roy would have reacclimatized back to 175 and having been pushed harder than he had been since Montell Griffin 1, Roy would show up as “RJ” and do to Tarver what he’d done to Griffin in their rematch.
While the odds may have been closer than they were for Lewis / Rahman, if you had asked 100 boxing experts who would get KO’ed by 1 punch in the second round, all 100 of the experts would have said either Tarver, Rahman, or Lewis. Nobody would have even dreamed that it would be Roy to get slept.
