Both guys were exciting, talented prospects that had a lot going for them, but unfortunately they were also total nut cases which would sadly end their careers. They both finished with an undefeated record, leaving most of us wondering how far they could have gone with the sport. Now they are just big 'what if' fighters.
Who do you think was more talented and skilled and who would have achieved more in their career if they weren't so insane? Tough call if you ask me.:think

Ike. Valero had beaten fringe or contender level fighters AT BEST.

Ibeabuchi looked good against Byrd and Tua. Valero's K.O record was inflated, aesthetically he wasn't as big a puncher as made out.

Okay, he was looking like he was improving, against average Demarco.

    Ike all the way.

    Both would have been champions

Valero I think would have been the southpaw Tyszu, a slower harder hitting but Pacquaio but maybe better measured.

Pacquaio-Valero would have been amazing, but Marquez would definitely pick him apart

JMM and Pacquiao would've ended Valero.

Nah his power was for real, heavy handed, fast tight punches and strong as an ox. His weakness was he was straight up but you had to potentially pay a big price if you were going to tag him

He battered Delahoya and Morales in sparring, sparring I know but still

JMM would win a UD, Pacquaio I give a slight edge too but Valero might well spark him

I like Ike. I do not think Valero would have been champion for very long because of his raw style and his own recklessness and his chief opposition would have been better than he was. I believe Ike had potential to beat all of the heavies post Lewis.

He was a dreadful finisher. Behave, he didn't even spark Demarco.

Valero would spark Pac based on what exactly??? Average level contenders and gym stories?

Ugh, Valero beat the living **** out of Antonio Demarco who is the current WBC LW champion and Mosquera lost the WBA SFW title to Valero when they fought.

You can argue about the validity of both of those guys as titlists but they are titlists none the less.

No, they are contenders, and not particularly good ones at that.

Titlist means **** all. Was Valero ever the no.1 in his division? Where either of those guys? Was Pitalua? None of the above.

Everyone raved about Linares looking aesthetically pleasing against similar cans and washed up fighters.

Also, Valero made Bazooka Limon look fluid when he beat Mosquera. And hit him about two hundred times and still couldn't produce a proper knockout.

Valero was obviously better than Tony Ayala though.

Howard Eastman hurt people in sparring too.

  13. Marquez would have knocked Valero out in the mid rounds.

    Pac gets him very early.

ike, he was just a giant older and more heavy handed version of holyfield, if he had holys ability to throw 5 punch combos he would of beat lewis, and dominated for as long as he was interested or kept under controll out side the ring.

Both but Valero could have been something special, even now while Demarco rose to the occasion again and he was destroyed by Valero......

As far as IKE he had a close fight with Tua, I thought Tua edged him but he was a heavyweight and there were mega-millions waiting for him, for me he is still an unproven guy but he did have the good win over Byrd and showed he had power and a chin vs Tua...could have, would have, should have, but his solid chin may have been the neutralizer to get past Lennox's power and get his own power to reach Lennox's or we may have really seen his chin tested by the Lewis arsenal (a real test)

That would have been quite a fight and we will never know if Ike would have been (Lenny's Golota) or another Grant.
