:deal Agreed. He wouldve been the GOAT at heavy had he dedicated himself to the sport. Did you see what he did to Wlad? Imagine an in shape and dedicated Sanders... breaks the records books and Lewis wouldve been dethroned embarrassingly with his disgraceful British glass jaw.
He was the only guy who troubled Vitali with his punching power, well outside of Lewis, and he was on a Burger King diet for that fight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdC0v8y4axw[/ame] Round 1 - 6:50..how good was this guy, he was overwhelming Vitali at times with the speed and power of his left. Very underrated win for Vitali, how he was able to adust and turn things around when his brother couldn't
Thus the legend and what could have been only becomes greater. It's odd how he couldnt KO rahman though... he was in shape for that fight and really it was supposed to be his coming out party but Rahman won in a upset.
Sander's by a country mile. He was freakishly physically gifted southpaw with a great chin, who never got anywhere near his potential due to lack of cardiovascular fitness. JoeAverage summed Bowe up very nicely. He was good in most areas but not exceptional at anything. He is massively overrated due to him being American.
Kinda contradicted yourself there by saying he was on a burger king diet, yet despite sanders being completely out of shape it's an underrated win? I think it just goes to show that if you can stand up to Wlad or Vitali jab with them and frequently feint with your lead then you can disrupt them. It's just having the balls to do it(they're some pretty big balls) I'd say they were about equal. Bowe was the better fighter and achieved more than sanders but had so much more to give. Sanders achieved a fair amount but again a bit more dedication to the sport could have meant so much more for him
Rahman did have a pretty solid chin. Went 22 rounds with tua in 2 fights which is no disgrace by any means. Also Lewis was the only other person to knock out, what I would consider a prime Rahman. I do get what your saying though and maybe it was just that Sanders was not quite what he was cracked up to be (Or potentially how good he could have been)
Don't mean to sound like a dick but reasons? I'm actually really interested in this thread and every bit of input is good input
Bowe, of course. Bowe was one of the best fighters of the 90's, ATG potential. Bad habits and Bowe-Lewis not happening hurt him bad. Sanders was a dangerous contender with very good power and fast hands. His power usually faded down the stretch. Could trouble many fighters especially if they're not careful enough. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Sanders was and always has been overrated based on one win, and giving Vitali 2 or 3 tough rounds before he adjusted and kicked his fat ass. A prime Ruddock would have done the same to Wlad, as well as beaten Sanders too.
:good read this and thought you ment the second fight. Good spot, but yer Rahman wasn't exactly the weakest chinned person but with all the hype sanders gets he really should have been able to bet Rahman comfortably
Bowe had more skill and talent in his ring finger than Sanders.....so Bowe. An unmotivated Bowe, like Bowe vs Holy 2 woulda beat the **** out of the very best version of Sanders
