An intriguing question to me both are the best boxers of this era but in almost every fight no matter the matchups credit is not always divided evenly. Would Ali-Fraiser I been as significant if Ali won?, would Duran be talked about as a top 10 ATG if he didn't take it to a prime SRL?Tyson-Douglas? I guess my question is what is the more historically meaningful outcome May 2nd and why? For me even though I'm picking Floyd I must admit since this fight was first brought up I felt a Pacquiao win would be a more legendary victory, agree or not FOTD,ATG,8*-Weight Champ beating the brash unbeaten, P4P, ATG star. Maybe it's because I expect it already a win over PAC while impressive was never as HUGE as it would be if Manny actually pulled it off.
It has to be Mayweather beating Pacquiao. Because this is by far his best opponent he has faced even though Manny is on the decline. His other best opponent is Corrales, Castillo (almost lost btw) and a blown up Marquez. Pacquiao has faced prime Barrera, Morales and Marquez. To a lesser extent Bradley is right behind them. So if Floyd gets dominated people will see that Mayweather just wasn't as good as we thought all along.
Yep if Mayweather wins it would somewhat validate his greatness. Even though Pacquiao is clearly declined he's still formidable and to dominate him would still be worth something. Just not as much as 6 years ago would have.
of course pac beating mayweather its not even closer pac beating maywather he would get the number 1 p4p spot back as well as winning his 5th lineal belt
Nobody cares about p4p rankings in retrospect. Mosley was once ranked #1 for years. He's not a true ATG.
good point but just saying pac has more to win like the winning his 5th lineal championship............
Hahah! Obviously Pac being the first man to ever beat Mayweather would be more significant than Mayweather besting Pac. Mayweather is the P4P #1 and WW #1. If their resumes and roles were reversed, then the answer would be reversed too.
Just like nobody cares about your opinion after all you think Erik Morales was the best fighter of his generation :rofl:rofl
I said it was debatable (never claimed he was) and I provided sound reasoning. You can disagree if you want to.
