So many are giving this label to the upcoming (so long coming) Tyson Fury - Anthony Joshua fight. This would have been true five or so years ago when both were the top two big men in the world. I would give the accolade to Lennox Lewis - Frank Bruno. The former was WBC champion and unbeaten at that point while the latter was a top contender. Tyson and Anthony are both top 5 contenders but surely there are others now ahead of them on the ladder.

    What do you all think?

Probably one of the Jack Peterson-Len Harvey fights, I forget the details, but Peterson was a colossal draw. One of these fights is rumoured to have done 90000 (reports vary). Peterson's popularity is one of those things that just defies understanding now, but i'd say he made Bruno look well-liked rather than popular.

Not the biggest, but the best: Jack Bodell v Billy Walker.

I remember the build up to Lewis V Bruno, Stevie.
That fight split a lot of people,a lot of Lennox ain't British and all that guff.
Give Bruno his due he put in the really good effort.

I don't think there had ever been two British major champs at the same time before?

I guess Bugner v Cooper, Bugner v Bruno, Lennox v Bruno and Lennox v Akinwande. Beckett v Wells?

A lot of the big matches in the 30s-50s involved someone who was really known for being LHW.

What a missed opportunity Fury Joshua was.

That would have been the standout, if it had happened at the rights time.
