Haye vs Enzo was pretty big, but you will struggle to top Benn vs Eubank.

Not as big as Benn-Eubank (or others) but Watt-Nash was a lot bigger than you'd think looking back.

    Maybe Bruno-Lewis?

Apart from Benn vs Eubank 1 AND 2 I'd say Bruno vs Lewis.

I can't really gauge how popular a fight was back in the day really - I'm guessing Cooper vs Bugner was pretty big and some of Coopers other fights, for example against London.

In a way it wasn't, not compard to many other fights Cooper had: Billy Walker for example.

The hype came AFTER the fight.

Exactly, I don't have any knowledge of what happened before the fight etc. so I can't really tell how big the fight was in terms of the build up to it.

:good:goodand the one above you mentioned.
benny lynch-peter kane must have been a huge fight in 1937
billy walker-johnny prescott were very big at the (60's) time too.
also frankie taylor-lennie williams around the same time.
overall though i'd agree with benn-eubank II and deservedly so

Haye V Maccarenelli in recent times was great for a number of reasons...........

They had been on a collison course for some time.

It looked like it would not happen - as Haye was set or heavyweight

Fight pulled out of the blue - surprise to see it announced - almost surreal

3 World titles on the line ........ WBO Champ V WBC / WBA Champ

Hyped up as the 2 best crusierweights in the world - - - both from Britain

    Wales V England -

Both hyped up as dynamite punchers - who could take each other out

Good build up on on the interent and Setenta Sports

Both having career high pay days

Needle there - with Enzo Calzaghe rubbishing Haye and promising him he will "never box again after this"

Cracking arena to hold the fight

    Amazing atomsphere

    Explosive end to the fight

Bruno v Withersppon was all over the media, front and back pages, both tv channels wanted it, eventually both having to show it the next day, on the night of the fight, BBC links between programmes were done at Wembley.

Bruno v Bugner was also a big event, whilst you may take the p*ss , an attendence of 30k plus on a cold October night, news coverage was massive, when Bugner landed at Heathrow hundreds of press there, The Sun ran a picture of Joes jaw for Frank to practice on, Terry Marsh jumping in the river afterwards, big big night, not a classic fight but certainly a big build up

Bruno V Tyson 2 was a relentless promotion - the first Sky Box Office in Britain I think

I didnt have Sky at the time - but for those who did - you could not watch the adverts without Bruno stating:

"Theres no way he is going to beat me - no way - no way - no way !!!!! "
