Golota really was a wasted talent if the guy was there mentally he could have been a very good fighter. I remember watching the first Golota-Bowe fight with my dad on HBO and I had only seen Golota fight one time prior to that against Po'uha. I remember my dad and I being absolutely shocked at Golota just doing a paint job on Bowe. The fight wasn't even close even with all the point deductions. Dude was just a head case.

In fairness to MESI, he was a viable HW World title contender at that time, and got a bad break from the NSAC, leaking misinterpretations of his CT scans.
Both of which were overruled by other Radiologists.

He did come back to boxing, but after a 2 yr layoff, and the whole drama of spending his millions fighting his suspensions, I just don't think he had the $ to self launch his comeback, and ended up headlining small shows, certainly not enough for the big heads to take him seriously as a contender.

His fight with Jirov was a beauty. And he had plenty of big wins over name opponents who were relevant when they fought.

Sad case really. Coulda been a modern day Rocky story.:think

Modern day busts.......it's looking like Glaskov is gonna bust, and Helenius, with his injuries/mgmt disputes. As well as Boystov with his in and out of the ring troubles.

As an American, I hope that Wilder can remain relevant until Wlad retires soas he can at least continue to make some noise and not be considered a bust in this era.:think

I dont think Wilder can be considered a bust at this stage.

Even Helenius and Glaskov have already accomplished quite a bit

Well, Audley accomplished quite a bit, as did Mesi and Guinn.

Sure they did get slow plodding titlists in there and sneak a paper title like Wilder, but they made noise early on, and stepped up faster than did Wilder.:think

    Wilders bubble could STILL burst.

If he's stopped in his first SOLID defense, most will consider him a hypejob exposed.:nono

    What bubble though?
I think Wilder, if anything, has actually done more already than most anticipated.

Most people here thought he'd be stopped early by Stiverne

Wilder won a title from one of the worst titlists in recent memory, but I guess on paper it's hard for him to put him on par with these guys considering he won a version of the world title, sadly... Wilder and Stiverne are probably the worst titles since Michael Bentt.

So in a sense Wilder has overachieved, he's not a world class fighter and will be exposed soon.

Oh, you mean his HATERZ and the CHINCHECKERS.

    Thats NOT most people.

Many believed, myself included, that if Stiverne didnt take it right to Wilder, that he himself would be TKOd.

Both overacheived in the fight. Stiverne, in not getting stopped, and Wilder in not panicking and getting hit flush a single time. :good

Nice call, but unless your'e a slick 220 lb pro fighter with a decent resume, your'e not beating any version of Stiverne.

MOF, that slow plodding version of Stiverne woulda KOd any, and I mean ANY come forward brawler.
    Mitchell
    Arreola
    Chisora
    Boystov
    Leapei
    Hammer
    Szpilka
    and Charr,

ALL top 30 HWs woulda been KOd.

Wilder fought the PERFECT fight and he should be commended for the masterclass that it was. :good

Shot Ray Austin was able to do the same for almost 10 rounds, it really wasn't that impressive.. "Come-Forward Brawler" Arreola was able to thoroughly outbox Stiverne in their 2nd fight until getting KO'd, it's not unlikely that someone out of the names you mentioned would be able to do that without being KO'd and be able to get the nod against Stiverne.

Decent performance from Wilder, but far from a masterclass.
