How do you know Mike Perez is not wearing platformed shoes? You can't see his feet?

Having stood next to Mike Tyson a couple times, I'll be goddamned if he is 5 foot 11.

    5 foot 9?

Thick as two men standing together.

Tua was similarly imposing and height challenged (for a heavyweight).

I'd concur with this. I briefly stood next to him at a fight card in Phoenix he attended as a fan, and I was shocked that I was about the same height as him. As you mentioned, he's wide as a house, but very short.

I always thought that Tyson was a lot shorter than listed and then one of my work mates met him at an all night clothing place in Vegas and got his picture with - now my mate is exactly 6ft ad I'm 5'7" and he said he thought Tyson was probably about 5'8" which seemed about right from the pic - he looked about about 4 inches shorter than my mate and he said he's hardly much taller than me - although he said his head and and his hands were huge!!

During my time in the US, I lived in a few cities with pro ball teams (football and basketball). Invariably, when I would meet or come across some of the players in public, they were shorter/smaller than listed... Especially the ones listed at 5 foot 11! The exception to this rule is guys who are 7 feet tall and don't want to be seen as freaks so they list them as 6-10.

I have seen the same thing they always list guys as taller than they are except when a guy is short I think revisionists make them shorter for effect and giants they always add 2 inches for effect. I think all guys above 6" they add 2 inches and all guys 5"9 they make 5"11, there may be an official weight but no official height
