Jorge Castros come back Ko against John David Jackson.Jorge was getting killed the whole fight then out of knowwhere comes out swinging in the 9th or 10th and taked Jackson out...very cool comeback KO
Ali in his fight with Foreman. Frazier and Ali in Manilla. Dempsey getting thrashed by Jack Sharkey for 6 rounds then KOing him with one punch. Billy Miske continuing to fight for years after being diagnosed with Brights disease and winning almost all of his last fights. Ketchel beating the **** out of Billy Papke in to take back the middleweight title. Not sure if it's true, but I've heard that Jim Jeffries knew that Bob Fitzsimmons gloves were loaded in their rematch but just didn't give a **** and fought him anyway.
Danny Williams gets my vote too, mainly for the Potter fight (Vitali quit against Byrd with the same injury) but also he showed a lot of guts against Klit and Tyson. Mayorga against Tito....gree shots and talking a lot of vicious punishment.
Not the best example but I think Hagler should get a shoutout for the Hearns fight. He didn't even try to box him; he went out there looking to ko the best p4p puncher out there
Abraham's performance against Miranda fighting with a broken jaw and losing tons of blood.Abraham has balls as big as those of a bull. HIs life could have been in danger than night.I guess that the vast mayority of fighters would have either given up the fight or would have been knocked out of the ring by Miranda. Not only did Abraham survive that unforgettable fight but he won that fight fair and square as well.
Morales-Pacquiao anyone? That 12th round. "Dont do anything stupid" Morales's dad. What does Morales do? Goes southpaw and trades with Pac. Well pretty much becomes a sitting target to show he can take Pacs punch and not go down.... Oh man i still remember that day. Everyone was going crazy.... Im going to miss him.
Yes I agree with that one too Benn v McLellan was certainly was a great example. I thought Benn was finished in that one. It is sad though what happened to Mclellan but it is part of boxing. Thankfully it doesnt happen as seriously as this too often though.
Bother boxers were never the same again. Benn always had a set of balls and loved a tear up. The Barkley fight is another good example.
Some good ones in this thread. My additions to this would be:- 1. Buster Douglas - just lost his mother, fighting a guy that was considered invincible and just dominated. Also got off the canvas to complete the job. Is he the only man to ever get up off the canvas against Tyson and win? I think so but not 100% on that. Tremendous balls shown in that win anyway, upset of the century. 2. Ali - Fought against Liston whilst blind in that one round, 4th or 5th I think? 3. Barrera V Hamed....the whole fight. God bless Marco Antonio Barrera for owning that *****. When Hamed landed some good shots on him and he just shrugged his shoulders as if to say '*****', quality
The thing that makes the Williams sotry even better is the fact he WON and by KO. I'd have given him the world of credit for finishing the round, had he continued and lost he would still have deserved credit for not quitting. I do believe had Tyson not injured his knee he would have KO'd Williams, but still give Williams credit a lesser man would have succumbed when Tyson had him hurt. Worth a mention is the Friday Ahunaya VS Shane Cameron fight, Cameron's face was a mess with 4 cuts above and below his eyes by round 9 he couldnt see a thing other than his blood which ran like a waterfall in any other country than his own the fight would have been stopped. However he kept comming forward and trading with Friday which ultimately became his downfall as Friday stopped him with a minute to go in the 12th round. Cameron was just ahead on all the card and if had boxed to survive the last 2/3 rounds he would have escaped with a points victory or at worse a draw.
