Biggest draw in boxing history was a 5'7 average looking non puncher with a mediocre vocabulary

Floyd gotta be the biggest over achiever ever. How he managed to get people to tune in and root against him needs to be studied, especially with his non punching, non action style.

The bar isn't very high to become a superstar. Jake Paul, a YouTuber, is after 5 years the biggest draw in the sport cause he talks a bit of smack and made some videos online.

Can you imagine if boxing had a super handsome, extremely talented singer who was also a top boxer? Imagine if Elvis could box, lol! That's 10 M PPVs.

    Based on what?

    PPV numbers?

Ali, Tyson, Dempsey, Marciano all dwarfed Floyd and all would have comfortably crossed 1 billion in earnings if they fought as HW's today. They all crossed over into mainstream culture as well far more than Floyd, especially the first 2. Most of the casual public think of Mike Tyson even now when you say boxing

Plus Floyd's PPV record numbers were also driven by the huge popularity of his opponents like ODLH, Pac, & McGregor

He also wasn't non action when he was PBF, he became more conservative as he moved up with his hand issues, & decided he wanted to do the bare minimum to win decisions

Remember, Ali did all of those "Floyd" antics too.

Ali got it from a wrestler called "Gorgeous George" who realized he could make a fortune

by turning "heel" and getting the crowd to hate him.

More and more watched him, hoping he would lose.

    Nothing new under the sun

To be honest, Ali and Tyson both were WAY more popular all over the world, it can't be compared to Floyd. Few people who don't follow boxing outside of USA know who Floyd is, but everyone knows Ali and Tyson. Both had charisma of the highest level.

You're letting the hate you have for the man cloud your judgement. He was a fantastic fighter. He mastered the art of hitting and not getting hit.
Average looking but he gets some of the finest women out there, women you could only dream of, yet your handsome, 6'5, excellent vocabulary ass is sitting here hating on him.

Yup. Floyd's transition from pretty boy Floyd to money May was one of his greatest achievements.

Glass hands had to become more defensive 2006 onwards

So what did he do he created a persona and leaned heavily into his defensive ability...and he just won boxed boring easy decision fights

To get in a boxing ring against fairly formidable men who have spent most of their LIVES fighting and to make it look easy and boring an achievment of the highest level.

The fight game is no joke. Floyd knows that. RIP Roger Mayweather.

Why would you care what women Floyd gets? That's proper fanboyism (alongside when fans care what a fighter earns)

I don't agree with him about him being average looking anyway, he's above average looking but even if he was ugly he'd still be getting fine women cause of his money.

Floyd was more like 5ft8 maybe even 5ft8.5, Clearly taller than Canelo, same height probably as Crawford
