    Leon Spinks? when was he promising - got ali in his 8th fight for a title shot after beating a padded Alfio Righetti then was no more than a journeyman after the ali fights. ali was very old then and wasn't up to much

    You're right about it coming down to definitions.

    In my book, a dud is someone who showed promise but then never achieved anything (Perfect example: Audley Harrison)

    The prince did certainly have his achievements as I mentioned in my earlier post.

    So, as you say, it comes down to your definition of dud.

    Losing to a great fighter doesn't make you a dud.

    Gold medal Olympian and unified champ. Then he tanked and tanked hard. I meant looking promising directly after beating Ali. I'm sure many thought he was the future of the sport. Then he lost to a guy making his pro debut and a guy who retired with a 3-53 record.

    everyone here is making terrible picks. A former world champion is not a dud, a solid titlist is not a dud...
