i think around the time he turned pro or a year after i heard rumors about danny williams beating up audley in sparring.

i came straight on here and posted a topic on it and was gunned down by everyone!

so you didn't actually analyze him as a fighter you just took floyds word as gospel. have you heard some of the **** that comes out of his mouth? he talks nonsense most the time. devon had a few floyd moves so maybe thats what caught his eye but he never impressed me once.

to be honest i think danny williams was a massive underachiever. he had a lot of potential, great skill, good power and speed but just didn't have the passion for the sport, its a real shame!

oh rite you were saying that's why others rated him? yeah i think that had a lot to do with it. for a while he was talked about along with bradley as the best 140. khan was seen as a level below and ortiz wasn't even mentioned amonst those guys. how things change.

obvious why though. america need a new star in the sport cus there fast running out. so they have to create fake ones!

    Like many here Arthur Abraham.

And earlier Herbie "the dancing chinachin" Hide.
I believe those were the only 2 who I actually believed in to become big and failed.

    1) Arthur Abraham, whose downfall didn't start with Dirrell, but with the Jermain Taylor knockout, which deluded him into thinking he was better than he was. After that fight he just quit trying to get better because of arrogance, and he paid the price for it. There was no trap setting, no conditioning, and a guy who just fell in love with one shot. That's just not enough to get it done at the top level of 168, and he's got himself to blame for not living up to his potential.

2)Alexander Alexeev, a skilled southpaw who I thought would be the goods at Cruiserweight with the potential to move up to heavyweight. His durability, chin, and stamina let him down.

3)Devon Alexander, who I initially rooted for because of his story and character, and who I thought really could've been something had he continued to develop after the Witter and Urango fights. Little did I realize how the flaws in his game would be magnified by Kotelnik, Bradley, and Matthysse, and how set in his ways he is despite being so young because of all the amateur experience that he's clinging to. Now I resent how King's gotten the media to gloss over any of his shortcomings and hype him blindly, which is the last thing he needs. He's another guy who's delusional about needing to make changes to grow his game.

Don't know if "hype job" is the correct term, but I'm pretty embarrassed to have rooted for Golota back in the day.

Then again, who didn't think he was the next big thing in the HW division, for about 6 months?

Another good mention, Jeff was a fighter I liked, too. I knew he was finished when that rotator cuff injury happened...that's a horribly ironic injury since the guy's nickname was based off a punch he couldn't even throw anymore.

I fell for the 'greatest feather' of all time BS hook line and sinker

barerra showed me the error of my ways ;)

even before that the kevin kelley fight popped the hype bubble for a lot of his fans.

a shame because Naz could have came back if he had sacked his family of advisors and listened to manny steward - he had greatness in him but his ego wouldnt allow him to listen to anybody.
