Roy Jones did PEDs. He is not a freak. We will never know how talented he actually was.

Barbados Joe Walcott I think had a freakish reach.

Well he was good from his childhood on up — a marvel — and was ridiculous in the Olympics where they have way more stringent drug testing than pro boxing does … not to mention if he was on gear at the Summer Games you’d have to figure most or all of the team was (they lived and trained together for months on end, probably with some breaks but I doubt those would time out perfectly to cycle on and off) and it certainly didn’t make them all RjR-level guys.

I don’t buy that he was on gear from childhood thru the end of his ‘real’ pro career and even if he was, why didn’t every other fighter on PEDs have enhanced reflexes and speed like Roy Jr?

He would 100% be my choice for the bantamweights, absolutely.

Don't forget he took this very unlikely combination up many weight classes. His power at WW wasn't quite as devastating of course, but quite respectable and the speed and the output were still off the charts.

When he tested positive, his opponent tested positive for much higher amounts. Probably gives a good insight into that era, where testing was very lax. Still no one looked even close to Jones.

Max Baer for an honorable mention.
Not exactly skilled, but his frame, strength, speed, and durability alone basically brought him to a championship (yes, he wasn't completely unskilled, but you get my point).
Also, his stamina to actively go for full fights while hardly training proper is also pretty astonishing.

Sam Langford at 5'7 1/2" had a reach of 74" and Jimmy Bivins at 5'9" had a reach of 76". Both unusually long reaches for their size.

Lest I forget, I recall reading an article years ago about a fighter with an unusually dense skull, which they were attributing to his ability to take it. I'm pretty sure the article was on Joe Grim.

Also, I recall an article on Cleveland Williams and the whole state trooper shooting incident. It was stated in the article that the common man has abdominal muscle density of about 3/4 of an inch, whereas Williams had like 2 1/2" of muscle. This they attributed to him surviving the gun shot.
