The chances of Hatton's fans having the ability to type is slim to none I would think...

Don't really know how your going to define the most knowledgeable.

Most people know about both fighter's styles.

    Pfft............

    My take......

Having seen much more of Hatton than Pacquiao, I will start with Hatton.

Ricky is a very strong specimen at 140, and relies on his physical abilities and exceptional footwork to manoevre opponents to the areas of the ring in which he wants them. Classic examples being Castillo, Malignaggi and the odd round against Mayweather.

His main punches are the left hook, both to head and body - and the short, straight right hand, which was effective against Collazo and Malignaggi.

Main vulnerabilities...... slicksters, such as Mayweather with the footwork and skillset to neutralise his own. Shots to the body (see Urango R5 & 9) and also southpaws. Not really troubled by big punchers as he has the ability to take the leverage from their punches.... though handspeed has posed problems at times.

Against Pacquiao..... the biggest worry for me is speed, more so than power. The constant bleating about cut stoppages cuts no ice with me either, with Mick Williamson in his corner he should be ok in this regard.

I don't see Pacquiao trying to outbox Hatton, because at some stage he will find himself up against the ropes - meaning his ribcage will be put under pressure..... his best tactic would be to meet Hatton in the middle and just keep banging away. He isn't going to put Hatton on the back foot at any time (simply doesn't work) - and backpedalling will put him at risk with the Las Vegas judges.

Looking forward to this one. I see a repeat of Pac vs Morales I. Can't see the winner yet!

Beeston is pretty much spot on.

What I would say is that 'exceptional footwork' needs more explaining. He isn't the type of guy to avoid punches with his footwork, and he can be caught coming in straight lines at times if he loses his focus, for example much of the Mayweather fight, but certainly his footwork when inside is superb. This is where the fight will be won in my opinion. He needs to come out and pressure Pacquiao and make him uncomfortable trying to fight off the back-foot, get inside and use his superior inside fighting to smother Pacquiao and land. He's great at side-stepping and feinting to find angles inside, for example side-stepping so he has an angle to hit the solar-plexus with the short left-hook, or feinting with the right hook with the body to go to the left etc. He can also tap away with little combinations to the head on the inside in an attempt to open up the big shot to the body.

Another advantage Hatton has are the shots from mid-range. Could catch Pacquiao on his way in.

Hatton will need to back pac on to the ropes, and make it into a close quarter fight. never giving pac the time to unleash his fast straights and combinations. He probably needs to make this fight ugly and unsettle pacs rhthym, and then wear him down with body shots.

pac needs to move on his toes like diaz and delahoya. catch hatton while he is moving in, then step to the side. he needs to hit hatton far more often to slow him down, and to make him think before rushing in. pac needs to stay of the ropes and fight on the centre of the ring using his speed advantage.

I think Pac needs to keep the fight at mid-range as opposed to close on the inside, where Hatton would prevail, and oppossed to trying to box him off the back foot, where he could end up getting caught on the ropes. He needs to hold the centre of the ring, circling Hatton to stop him pressing him against the ropes, and finding angles for left-right combinations. He needs to be patient and look for gaps in Hatton's defence, which he should find aplenty, look to capitalise with quick left right combinations and move. He can also look to counter Hatton if Ricky's punching when trying to close the gap, same principle hit & move.

I'm a huge fan of both. Could go either way.
For me the odds are slightly against Pac purely because of the natural size/strength difference. I think Pac will do well, possibly give Hatton his hardest fight apart from PBF. I see Hatton taking Pacs shots slightly better than Pac will take his. But if Hatton doesn't bring his A-game he'll get schooled.

I give Hatton about 15/20% chance of winning. Even though he has Floyd Sr, his defense will not be able to block the fast and reasonably powerful shots of Pac. Hatton has to win by stoppage simply because he will take far more punches than Manny
