Did I say that Hatton would be playing the Morales role?

Ah, decent thread - some excellent analysis.

    Here's my two....

The one thing that people have a tendency to overlook with Hatton is his footwork, moreso in the respect of how quickly he closes the distance between opponents. Malinaggi thought he could follow the Mayweather blueprint and found out rather quickly how difficult it was. I for one, still think Hatton did very well in the Mayweather fight, especially for 6-7 rounds.

Hattons footwork is great, defence not so. He WILL get close to Pacquiao, it all depends how much he eats and how often as he comes in. Manny has a tendency to paw with the jab as a sort of range finder for the straight left, but I have a feeling he won't have time to keep pawing with it. It'll either be use the jab or don't as Hatton will jump in quickly to nullify it (or eat the straight left as he does so)

As a Hatton fan, the main concern is the southpaw stance. Manny doesn't really move that fluidly, it's more or a herky, jerky style, so I'm guessing he'll be trying to pivot as opposed to Mayweathers more fluid movement of using more of the ring. If Manny pivots effectively, then Hatton might eat the left hand all night long, but in the same breath, it puts him in a position to get hurt by Hattons best punch, the left hook.

The ref could be crucial too. Up close, I fancy Hattons strength, so it could be interesting if the holding is allowed for a few rounds. I see Manny being mauled in there and that big heart of his working against him if that's the case.

My heart says Hatton, my head says Manny. What a fight tho ...

And the chances of Pacs fans writing English is slim to none.

And your chances of having failed both your history and geography classes is an absolute certainty since you don't know that a Pac fan is most probably a Filipino whose country used to be an American colony and as such his/her second language is English!!! :patsch:patsch:patsch :hi::hi::hi:

past - mid 2008 = 90% of the ESB community thinks this is a stupid match up because Pac was too small and is not capable to go in the ring with the Hitman. Also you will be called delusional and be laughed at.

After Dream Match = Pac has a chance...well even more than 50%.

IMHO, Hatton "SHOULD" be the favorite here. He is a proven CHAMPION of the 140lbs. Unlike Diaz who just only defended twice his 135lbs belt. Even if Pac came from a win at 147lbs VS the Golden Boy. Still in paper Hatton rules the light welterweight.

Hatton is a supreme fighter on his division, none of the 140 division is capable of beating him. On the other side, Pac is not even a legit light welterweight since he has never stepped into that weight. Even prior stepping up at welterweight.
