I wouldn't say that. Bowe. while he should have achieved much more. was not the champ in that category. Imo, that title belonged to greg page, the supposed heir apparent to ali. He had great talent but no dedication, like he didn't want to fight.

He lost his first amateur fight and then won all 72 of the rest and all by KO. Here's Oleg Maskaev finishing him off for good - and I think you can put Oleg on this list too, even tho he was champ.

There are differing numbers with the guy. the record you quoted is the worst I've ever heard. I had heard 84-0 with 82 or so ko's. then it was 72-1 with the loss a dq and 71 ko's. Then, 70-0.

But you always have to watch out with those amateur records from there and take them with a grain of salt. Afterall, Duplooy was 225-3. He must've fought the same guy 228 times. And then you had Knoetze who was 0-13 in his first 13 bouts.

But Tshabalala was a known commodity as an amateur and had a big first round ko against one of the nigerian heavies in a tournament that put him on the map. He was trained right out of the gate by nick Durant, so he simply had to have had some kind of pedigree to get that guy as a trainer that early.
