The weird thing about measuring hype for harcores is that we're insulated against the actual hype that fighters receive because no-one who actually follows boxing takes the time to read the YT comments on Sky Sports Boxing where a half dozen Yorkshiremen are convinced that Adam Azim is the future of the sport after watching a highlight reel. The people who talk about boxing in mainstream media - 9 times out of 10 - barely know anything about boxing, yet this is how fighters get hyped and is where they're praised.

That's a good point. Sky are very very good at marketing their stable, especially with the British people and Anthony Joshua's rise.

You not a fan of Adam Azim? I think he is quite good, not sure about anything crazy - can see him beating some good fighters but also losing to some good fighters in his career. I think the Dalton Smith fight is quite early though - not sure why that fight has already got so much hype.

    Broner. Haney. Wilder.

Actually I think Wilder was an odd case of being simultaneously underrated by many and overrated by many at the same time. I think he was underrated by hard core boxing fans and over rated by casuals and Tyson Fury fans. The truth is he was in the middle of those extremes but overall I think he did wind up getting a bit overrated in general.

Joyce was being hyped by some as an all time great head to head recently. That's a lot of hype!

Wallin. Surprised he hasn't been mentioned yet.

The hype this guy got after that Fury fight was insane. People genuinely thought he'd give AJ problems.

    AJ, Joyce, Dubious.

Dubious was already exposed but they're now on a second hype run with him sort of like the post-Ruiz AJ one. The recent Parker pull-out shows they're very nervous about him.

People say Wilder and he was manufactured too however he did KO Ortiz twice and almost KO'd Fury which means he can't be that bad. And in any case he didn't have the promotion of the others, so he's still not as hyped.

Eubank Jr also incredibly hyped. Let's remember he was a 160 fighter actually favourite to beat Groves.

He only lasted about 6 hours total.

A hype job, if ever there was one.
