I know many casuals and they never knew Wlad ever fought outside of Haye and Fury.

How many buys do you think Wlad would have gotten if his fights were on HBO PPV? 10 thou? 5 thou?

Depends on where. Countries are obvious, they will stand behind their fellow countryman.

In Europe it's still Wladimir.

The US Canelo and Manny.

In Asia it's Manny.

In the UK it's Joshua.

 

Overall, neglecting regional variations, I would say Pacquiao. Mayweather if he was still active (even after retiring he is probably the one the general public hears most about).

It is my impression that Ward actually also gets a decent amount of media coverage, it just doesn't translate super well due to his career status prior to Kovalev (this could be somewhat regional, as the Kessler - Ward fight made him a household name here).
Canelo is rising and doing good. Kovalev and GGG are obviously gaining quite a following, but seems more restricted geographically than with the others mentioned.

 

No. Worldwide actually Golovkin and Lomachenko are more well known since their fights are broadcast to a wider audience for some reason. I don't really understand why.

 

I know a lot of people who don't know who is GGG is but know who Canelo is, so I respectfully disagree.

Yeah, but that's mostly in America/English speaking countries and ****. UK, America, and Spanish speaking countries know about Canelo. If you go by what fighters get telecast the most though, Golovkin is higher than Canelo with Lomachenko above of both of them. I'm excluding Pacquiao and Mayweather from this. I had to look this up months ago and I don't suspect that would have changed. It was strange to me as well.
