I'm never quite sure where to actually place Conn at heavy, though obviously he came within a fleas whisker of beating one of the greatest. Give me Heavyweight fighters, you think Billy could beat.? Past or present??
Good one and yes, I can see that's a possibility. I'm thinking maybe Ingo or perhaps Jersey Joe, but he's gotta to get the faded version.
The first couple of Walcott v Charles fights were not the best for Joe. Not on top form as such. Can't rule him out there.
Leon Spinks Michael Moorer Max Schmeling Jack Dempsey Gene Tunney Marciano/Conn = tossup Patterson/Conn = toss-up.
I'm making the assumption that Liston is similar enough to his role model, Joe Louis, that Conn can use similar tactics.
Size would hold him back against anyone who came after him. But over 15 I think he’d have enough to outbox Jefferies.
David Tua. Conn was 3 inches taller, and had a reach advantage. Tua was much heavier; as a result he moved slower than a sloth, a glacier, or a large boulder rolling up hill. Tua would see so little of Conn that, by the end of the fight, he wouldn't recognize him as the guy that he shook hands with when the fight started.
