I think you guys are sleeping on Ruddock, he had a massive uppercut. If you are looking at one punch power I think you have to give it to Ruddock. But for combination power I think it goes to Lewis.
Muhammad Ali says Shavers hit harder than anyone he ever fought including Foreman and Liston. Larry Holmes said Shavers hit harder than Tyson. What other heavy has this strong of a recombination? Two heavyweight legends from tow generations picking the same guy as the hardest puncher they ever fought. These guys are more experts than anyone else. (harder than Tyson, Foremen or Frazer) Some reference videos, from people who should know because they got hit my Shavers: Ali Says Shavers hardest hitter "Stronger than Joe Frazer, stronger than George Foreman" [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3KUACAGHR8&feature=related[/ame] Ron Lyle @ 04:30 says Shavers hardest hitter, harder than Foreman. If 1st round KO's are any indicator Tyson and Shavers are tied at 22 1st round KO's. Shannon Briggs is the champ at 27 1st round KO's/
I agree ive pretty much posted what you just stated quite a few times on This forum. They would k ow better than anyone else.
I'll grant Lewis and Ruddock at #'s 1 & 2..... Cooney only KO'd old farts and stiffs, but he had power..... Wlad Klit can WALLOP real well with both hands; he's deadly.... Smith and Frazier were punchers too, but not as wicked as some want you to believe.... Frazier had a great hook, while Bones Smith was slower than **** upon delivery...... Cheers..... MR.BILL
Right on. Cooney is extremely underrated in this poll. His left hook to the body was devastating, in close he brought it up similar to Ruddocks smash, like a hybrid left hook-uppercut. Cooney were better in close quarters than Ruddock though. Have you watched Tyson-Ruddock 2 and turned up the sound? Ruddocks shots sound s like cannons.. Incredible power.
I dont think Morrison hit harder than those guys, Im sure Foreman would say that Cooney hit harder than Morrison.
Lewis Ruddock Cooney Klitschko Frazier Smith Are we talking shot for shot, or just an over all best puncher?
Nah, of the fighters listed Ruddock or Cooney would be the choice for one punch torture. Frazier's damage was more cumulative. I honestly still consider Lennox Lewis more of a boxer first than a puncher but hey what do I know?
with punching power its not about how hard you hit but who you knock out. The most spectacular knockouts are always against an overmatched shopworn guy who has been KO'd a number of times before. his resistance might be totaly gone and his reaction to a clean shot only frightening because he should have already retired. so i would rate a guy who can catch a fresh, good opponent with his best punch as the hardest hitter. On this list frazier and lewis put more good guys away with a single shot. ruddock may have beheaded dokes but nobody else of that calibre. bonecrusher was a powerful guy but would freeze guys with a big shot then overwhelm them with a flury- weaver was the best guy he beat but weaver had been knocked out a lot of times. frazier Lewis wlad crusher cooney ruddock
