I'm talking heavyweights. Marciano and Foreman because of their high ko percentages. Tyson for his record number of first round kos. Dempsey who could hit with bone breaking force. Ask Jess Willard. Cleveland Williams and Ernie Shavers never won the title but look at their ko records. Very impressive. I'm not sure how to rank them in order. Out of these guys who takes top prize?
no order i mean unless they all lined up and punched the PSI machine from Rocky 4 its hard to say definitively. There are so many variables, quality of opponent's chin, effectiveness via delivery vs brute anti technique force. Im not well educated on the real old timers so Demsey, Louis, Liston, Foreman, Tyson, Lewis, Wlad. honorable mentions who I see no problem being ranked Morrison, Cooney, Sanders, Shavers, Lyle, Bruno, Bowe.
Dempsey. and iv'e got to give Max Baer a mention because he killed someone and nearly killed someone else who got killed with a jab in the next fight.
Louis and Dempsey threw hard punches with great speed with their body weight behind their blows. So with lots of snap. Never saw either...way before my time but I can tell you this.....I've watched up close shavers, foreman, Ali, Frazier training with a heavy bag. By far and away Foreman showed me that he was the heaviest hitter. I watch George train in NJ back in the mid 70's. He was slamming a 300 pound heavy bag and his punches landed like thunder...just awe inspiring and frightening. Never have seen anything like it before or since. there is a video on YouTube of him hitting that bag but it does not do it justice. Incredible to witness in person. Can't imagine any fighter hitting harder...the man could literally hit like a hammer....a sledge hammer. No joke.
"Biggest puncher" is irrelevant unless it is effective against the highest level of fighters. The best punchers are the ones who can catch the best fighters with their best punch. so many many fighters cannot. It is a rare quality. Dempsey, Louis or marciano take your pick.
This gets to the crux of things. Lyle,Foster, Shavers Williams were all heavy duty punchers , but seldom sparked top men.
:good exactly my point. catching a fighter with world class reactions with a sunday punch is so very rare. seperates men from boys in ATG terms.
Bruno was a big puncher, he scored quite high on the PSI machine. Cant remember what it was, someone posted a list of boxers quite some back
The video footage alone is frightening, you can literally hear the rafters shake. Dick Saddlers hat blew off!
foreman and marciano because their % of kos? or maybe because foreman would hit you and kill you literally and rocky for his size did hit like no human of 185 pounds?
joe louis and jack dempsey(2 mother****ers) saw foreman in live fighting against kenny norton in 1974 and they said that foreman was the most powerful guy and the hardest puncher that they saw ever in a ring. these men saw guys like baer, liston, shavers, marciano, frazier. the people don“t understand that george foreman was a monster... tyson called him " a killer". foreman had the heaviest hands ever... he was not a sniper like louis or a peak tyson... but foreman could hurt you even if he did hit you in the shoulder... foreman was a monster... it is beacuse i am a fan of him, i respect this guy... i have heavy hands... compared with him i am a ****ing little fussy.
