In his bout with Roberto Duran, Lou Bizarro ran far more than Muhammad Ali ever did during his physical peak. When becoming older, Ali ran less in addition to clinching and doing the "rope-a-dope" on a far more frequent basis.
I Have Mayweather first place, second place and third place nd rate him the most boring and the most egotistical and the guy who overrates himself to an extent no other fighter ever did apart from Anthony Mundine Jr maybe.
Pep ? that is just unbelievable, Pep never ran he was almost always in a position to land punches, he was just incredibly elusive and was usually in front of his opponent, he was simply a master of LATERAL movement, he wasn't backpedaling like an Ali a Robinson (sometimes) and especially a Mayweather. Pep was a genius.
Herb Elliot deserves a mention although he was a miler not a sprinter but never lost a race in his entire life
Boring? Maybe-- that's a judgment call. Egotistical? Certainly. But only casuals or people who don't actually watch his fights think that Mayweather's a "runner."
Yeah, I use the term "runner" quite differently. I use it to describe people who constantly use their feet to move away from the action and out of punching range to avoid getting hit with no regard for their own offense. The best runners can run for much of a round and still win via a few well-timed pot-shots and flurries. First rounds in Leonard v Duran II/Hagler, some of the rounds Lara won against Canelo, Vilomar Fernandez against Arguello, etc.
