Out of curiosity, what are some of the biggest displays of the sort of crazy bravado fighters sometimes do, like Mayorga letting guys hit him, fighters waving the opponent in, smiling and laughing while taking big shots, etc?

Dwight Qawi loved to stand in front of opponents, taunt them, grin, and make them miss. He did this against guys like Matthew Saad Muhammad and Leon Spinks. During one point against Evander Holyfield the first time, he made Holyfield miss a dozen straight punches. Then he sort of shrugged his shoulders, and then pounded Holyfield with a couple body shots.

Roy Jones's behind the back KO of Glen Kelly.

Yeah, the Spinks case in particular was a real classic. Qawi was something else. I didn't know he did it to Holyfield, I'll have to check and see if I can find that on youtube.

Thx for posting Qawi/Spinks; I'd never seen that & it's pretty incredible.

Of course, when these things come up, there's always the flip side of being FAR to cute for your own good. You know the one...

Believe it or not Danny Williams once showed he had brilliant heart, by fighting one handed after dislocating a shoulder and still flattening Mark Potter.

What Holyfield said later was that the heart thing was a misdiagnosis. They gave him morphine after the bout and it made him look like he had some sort of heart problem.

The doctors said his symptoms were consistent with HGH use, but NSAC doesn't test for it, so they just asked him if he used and he said no, and they let it go after that.

The greatest ever if it actualy happened!

Jim Jeffries agreeing to go ahead with the second fight against Bob Fitzsimmons knowing that Fitz had loaded gloves.
