Some would have said Anderson was the biggest undefeated heavyweight prospect, I defo had him up there, but all that hype is gone now. Who is the biggest undefeated heavyweight prospect ATM? Jalolov? Torrez? Itauma? Maybe even Opetaia if he gets all the belts and moves up, it has been done before. Kabayel too proven now to be a prospect. Thoughts?
He stepped up to gatekeeper a bit too early and lost one fight... It's not over just because he lost his zero. He probably won't go all the way, but most don't. There's no need to go hunting for the next hypetrain to jump on - step back and appreciate their development for what it is, I'm sure you'll enjoy it more.
Good point. People spoke this way about Dubois not too long ago....Bakole is a hard fight for anyone, credit to Anderson for taking it.
I'm not ready to throw in the towels on Anderson just yet. Will be ever be a great fighter? Probably not, but he has a lot of talent and he showed a lot of heart last night. He was outgunned and hurt multiple times last night but never stopped trying to win. He is only 24 and will learn from this. Outside of Anderson, Jalolov looks to be the guy to keep and eye. He has the amateur pedigree and talent to make serious noise in a couple of years.
I like Richard Torrez Jr. He may be a bit too small to beat all the super-heavyweights, but he's very entertaining to watch. He's American so he will be well-promoted. Jalolov is from a Central Asian country, so Top Rank will not get him meaningful fights until he's past his prime (same as they did to Korobov). I wish the Saudis would directly promote him, then he still might go on to great things.
Huni not even as good as Anderson IMO. Huni had huge problems with Lerena who exposed him a fair emount. I can see Huni being a strong contender but I just can't see Huni being good enough to be the next big thing in heavyweight boxing but I could be wrong.
No, Anderson showed who he truly is inside when he cried like a baby in the RJJ interview. He doesn’t have the mentality, the fire is not in him deep when **** gets rough. And it got rough on Saturday, his mind let his body down and it always will when he is in the fire. B-Hop said it best ‘I always ran to the fire, not away from the fire that’s my personality’ That is forged from a young age, it’s in the mind and from an upbringing that no1 would choose or desire. Anderson isn’t cut from that cloth.
Lerena really should have finished Dubois off, and literally got knocked out, Lerena is a gatekeeper at best. I just don't think Lerena is any better than Charles Martin. With Huni, I don't think hes bad but I can't see him being the next big thing in boxing. I agree though, Dubois got lucky there by the ref.
